In my mind, the training is secondary. The most important thing is to have an apprecation that these kinds of things happen, and that you can't protect yourself by sitting there, waiting to be shot. Even at the most rudimentary level, that keeps your brain from saying "What's happening?" and...

NRA = more good then bad. They are struggling to be a "mainstream" organization. They are by far the most powerful gun lobby in Washington. It makes sense to support them for that reason if for no other.

Bigots are bigots. Doesn't matter whether they are bigoted against muslims, or against gunnies. That guy has more in common with the antis then with us. And yes, it does make us look bad.
