Looking to buy my first firearm

Depends on how much you know about guns. If you are an avid reader about firearms and know a lot about them or have a friend that knows what they are talking about then look at used guns. Otherwise, I would think it best to stick with new guns until you get comfortable with them and gain...

what firearm have your parents/grandparents passed down to you

My Papaw left me a Harrington & Richardson Topper Model 158 single-shot 12 gauge. He gave it to me while he was still alive when I was 12 and had just started squirrel hunting. Its killed many a squirrel, rabbits and clays.

    What's your "never buy" gun?

I don't think there are any that I would not buy! I likes guns! One thing that is evident in this thread is the fact that ALL manufacturers have problems occasionally. One bad apple does not a bunch spoil.

    ATF called me today.

The only dealings I have had with ATF are in relation to my FFL application and questions I have had since receiving my license. All the contact I have had has been great, I really think that there is too much paranoia concerning a simple trace procedure.

Help me buy the right gun please!

You seem to like your 935 deer gun so why not get another one of those and have the stock custom fit to you by a competent gunsmith. It is a firearm you are already familiar with and you can get barrels/chokes for whatever use you want at any particular time.

Low recoil 500-1000yrd target rifle suggestions

As others have stated, if your friend wants to stay with the .308 look into a limb-saver recoil pad and a muzzle break. These two together will probably get the job done. If rifle/cartridge change is wanted and all that is being shot is paper then a .223, 22-250, .220 swift, 6.8, .243 or other...

    What's your recoil limit???

I love the .44 Magnum in both Single Action revolvers and Desert Eagle Autos. I am looking forward to the day when I can get behind the .454 Casull, .480 Ruger, and the .500 S&W

Anyone tried a takedown gun... stupid movie question

I would say that the accuracy would come down to the repeatability and solidity of the different mating surfaces. If you have a firearm that goes together with little to no slack in the joint and scope mounts that have an ability to be returned to the same location on the receiver and scope with...

    Rifle accuracy question.

Average off the shelf AR's ARE as accurate as average off the shelf bolt rifle's. Compare any "economy" version of each and they will be close to equal. Compare "expensive" versions of each and you will see an increase in the accuracy of each type. Work on either one and you will get better than...

A2 or Collapsible Stock for AR?

I would say get the six position stock then set it to fit you and pin per the NY rules. That way you have a sort of custom fit. The only caveat is if you know that a regular A2 stock will fit you well then go with it.

What kind of .270 should I be looking at?

    Maybe something like this...

Are Hi Points more accepted now?

I had one of these up for sale on an auction, by three days till the end of the auction I had four watchers. Then this one guy comes along and grabs it at the buy it now which was MSRP. They seem to be pretty popular. The one I had was new in the box so I could not try it out personally but it...
