Building my first AR and can't decided what stock to get. I would prefer a collapsible stock, but in NY, you need to get it pinned so its non-adjustable. So since the adjustable stock isn't adjustable, I thought I would just get an A2 style stock. So, what do you guys think I should go with?

I don't really like the feel of full length stocks and I am 6'1". I prefer a collapsible stock on the 3rd setting, but that is just me...

Don't bother with a pinned adjustable stock. Go with an A2 or an Ace stock.

Thats by far one of the stupidest damn rules I have EVER heard. Why even get a 6 pos stock then?

My thoughts exactly. I guess I like the idea of the adjustable being that I can get it the length I want then get it pinned. I don't know what the hell to do.

I would say get the six position stock then set it to fit you and pin per the NY rules. That way you have a sort of custom fit. The only caveat is if you know that a regular A2 stock will fit you well then go with it.

Well here would be my "extreme" advice. If I had to live there I would go for the pinned 6 pos if its for tactical use. If there ever came a time that you NEED to adjust it, and LAWS were right out the window, you could drill out the pin and adjust it. However if you are going to use it as a bench or hunting gun I would go with the fixed A2.

I agree, at least you get to set it to the length that works best for you. And you do have a selection of buffers (standard carbine, H, H2 and H3) to tune the cycling of your AR.

But choosing between A2, A1, Sully or Entry fixed stocks gives you lots of flexibility too, at least in length.
