2.5x enough to group well on paper at 100 yds?

geologist - sounds like you do very well with your 2.5x. It looks like you also have a ghost ring. If necessary, could you remove the scope and still see the iron sights, or does the scope mount get in the way?

2.5x enough to group well on paper at 100 yds?

I figured that 2.5x or 3x would be OK for hunting - quick acquisition and wide FOV and 9x would be good for fun on paper. Sort of leaning more toward the 2.5x28mm Leupold scout scope though since I'd like to load some full house rounds to play with and the 10" relief seems comforting.

2.5x enough to group well on paper at 100 yds?

I've got a 45-70 with an 18" barrel that I want to scope. I'll be using it for hunting, but sure would like to shoot paper at 100 yds at the range. I was thinking of a 3x9x to accomodate both types of shooting, but am a bit nervous of the short3.4" eye releif on this beast, and was...

Choose between Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 Mag Hunter and Bisley

Bisley Hunter is on it's way :-)

    Double action .22s

The Ruger Super Single Six .22 that I purchased new in 1974 is still going strong. I know, it's a single action, but I'm not trying to shoot quickly with it, just nice and deliberatly picking the bullseye out of the target. I've heard that they aren't supposed to be the most accuarate gun...

Choose between Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 Mag Hunter and Bisley

I am getting ready to purchase a Ruger .44 mag revolver. I was set on the Super Blackhawk Hunter, but learned about the Bisley Hunter and now am undecided. From what I can tell, the difference between the two is the grip, but many feel that the Bisley grip helps lessen perceived recoil...

    Preparing for an attack!

Not picking on you, but... it's more of a possibility then you think, and it's getting worse all of the time. My family always keep our doors locked, day and night, although we live in a 'safe' neighborhood. There is always a pistol in my pocket, even when I'm inside. A young woman I...

Opinion wanted on .38 Semi Wadcutter bullet

I just came accross this thread that I created early in the year, when I hadn't started casting/loading, and I wanted to say thank you to everyone who responded. The information was very helpful toward getting me started sucessfully. The internet is a great tool! Since then I've cast and...

Loading a Magazine all the way vs -1 round to ensure reliability?

I installed Pearson +1 extensions on my Glock 27 magazines, increasing the capacity from 9 to 10. I started worrying about the 10th round putting so much pressure on the spring, about the possibility of the bottom plate bursting off of the magazine, and about the possibility of feed issues...

    Gun shirt bad logo... tyranny

I think they'd be viewed as goofballs by (almost) anyone seeing them in public wearing it. Sort of reminds me of the teeshirt I saw once that said "Instant A__hole - Just add Alcohol"... only in this case just substitute Alcohol with Ammo. Randy

Possible to tell if a Glock has one in the pipe?

    That's a simple enough solition - thanks.

Possible to tell if a Glock has one in the pipe?

It sounds as though some of the contributors to this thread think I'm not sure if it's loaded. I know that I have a charged magazine in the gun, just not if one is in the pipe. I suppose I could leave it with the trigger rearward, to serve as an indicator of which condition the gun is in...

    Pearson + 1 on Glock 27 -- any issues?

I would back off to 8 +1 rather than 9 +1, but sure don't like to lose that round. With my luck, if I ever do need to defend myself, it would be that 10th round that I would need the most. Randy

    2005 Gun Show

Many of the tables full of guns at the gun show in Tampa last month were unsecured. It was super crowded, and I wondered how they could keep an eye on all of them. But it was nice to be able to pick them up and examine them without waiting for someone to unlock them. Hey Prozach, you outta...
