I havent had the opportunity to use the bullet to hunt yet but what about the nosler 64 bonded? Its built to be super tough and has been very accurate from my 20in AR.
I have loaded that bullet with Ramshot Tac to max levels, H335 would be my choice of the powders you list. Generally speaking a quality bullet on a cosistant powder charge within the "book starting and max loads" will get good accuracy. Start at the starting load and go from there.
I would look to a spotting scope with a range estimating reticle. Im sure there is something on the market that could do that. If it has to be a rifle scope then I would start my search by figuring how much power you need with a spotter. I would guess 30X or more but you may find that less...
From what I heard the strike one was released late 2013 so to say its been around a while is a stretch. According to the Tac TV episode I saw about the gun its made in Italy by tanfolgio for arsenal or Russia. It uses a very different locking system and could be a very innovative pistol... if...
If I'm not mistaken the rifle length recoil system ie: buffer, spring, and tube offer a little more travel over the carbine length. That in turn gives a different slightly softer recoil impulse. While it may not matter for slow fire it can be an advantage during rapid fire.
What about copper solvent? Might help loosen the bullet to barrel connection.
I have used compressed air to force lube between bullet and barrel. Rubber tipped nozzle and it was a single bullet, but even with the hole drilled it may help to force the lube/solvent/unicorn tears into the...
I take new shooters out every year (have since I was in highschool with my father). I always try to start the experience at my home to theirs to go over handling and saftey, I have had good response to this and I get a sence of confidence/calm on the range from the newbie and I like knowing...
After looking into the offerings from ptg I think I might just do a dbm after all. I saw the 2949 stock by b&c but I like there light tactical stock more and at the end of the day ptg offers bottom metal with 1 mag for around 150 bucks. If I was going to shoot from the bench exclusively I...
So I bought a remington 700 adl varmint at LGS for a song and dance a few months ago. I figured I would get a nice stock and build it for a light tactical rifle (range toy). I started looking for a composite stock with aluminum bedding blocks and it seems the choices are very limited for blind...
The glocks don't have a fully supported chamber like the 1911, If that case let go under pressure the gas would blow down into the frame (and your hand). I wouldn't bother with the risk myself. I don't think the short barrel would net any additional power worth the wear and tear on the gun...
I somehow managed to bulge the barrel in my kimber custom target this morning, I'm not sure how it happened, I didn't experience any extra recoil that was noticeable. In any case has anyone sent work to kimber? I'm sure they will replace the barrel but at what cost and how long would it take...
Don't tell my wife but I use our foodsaver for small conveience packs of ammo for hunting. I'll do 5rd packs of 30-06 to carry for just in case ammo while tromping around up north and similar sizes for shotgun ammo while hunting around water.
I find that after shooting irons on a rifle or after shooting a high powered scope for too long makes my eyes tired, the dom eye has trouble focusing and the other just feels fuzzy (from being closed too long). Probably eye stain, for me better optics and getting off the sights for a few min...
