Springfield Stainless Champion: The shooter or the gun?

Viper - I really enjoyed shooting the M&P 45 - I switched to the Springfield because I wanted something smaller for carry - also must admit I like the way a 1911 feels in my hand. Hopefully I can diagnose with the targets Quack posted and see whats what. -Gray

Springfield Stainless Champion: The shooter or the gun?

Thanks Quack - Got it. Can't wait to try it out. I mentioned the revolvers because I know the trigger situation is different. Also will try the factory ammo but geez, that gets expensive if you go for volume so I hope I can work with the reloads.- gray

Springfield Stainless Champion: The shooter or the gun?

Quack et al, Thanks again. Allow me to pose a few more uninformed questions: The graphic above works for either handed shooters? Also. I should have disclosed that I do shoot alot of revolvers. - Gray

Springfield Stainless Champion: The shooter or the gun?

Not sure on that. They were right handers though. My "groups" were probably like 3-4 inches. Are the night sights alot different from regular white dot sights, and is sighting with the 1911 style significantly different from the M&P 45 I had been shooting?

Springfield Stainless Champion: The shooter or the gun?

To David E and Quack: Thanks, I have had a couple of other (better) shooters try it and they thought it was off -not bad but off. I have not yet tried factory - will do that this weekend. Yes I am a lefty.

Springfield Stainless Champion: The shooter or the gun?

Hello all, Recently bought a Springfield PX9142LP (liked the features, decent reviews, and did not have the money for a comparable Kimber). The gun certainly looks and feels well made. It does have night sights. Does not shoot well for me compared to my former S&W M&P 45 out of the box. At...

    Taurus failure

Taurus angst, etc. I bought a new Taurus 688 about 18 months ago. First time on the range - could not get through 16 rounds before the cylinder locked up. Taurus issued me a call tag and 5 weeks later, I had a completely reworked firearm with new cylinder and could swear they worked on the...

    Bought a Taurus

Mcgunner- I was hoping they could rework the weapon, not replace it (just like Smith did with my 610 a couple of months ago) what did you think about the hammer wiggle?

    Bought a Taurus

Glad to read more than a few positive posts for Taurus- I bought a new 608- could not get through the second 8 rounds before the cylinder locked -(shooting 38 +p) fiddled with it-shot a few more times and lockup. I noted that the hammer has a lateral wiggle to it (not found on any of my Smiths)...

Who makes the "best" moonclips in .45 acp?

I use the RIMZ for my 625 and 610- they are fast and easy on the fingers. Never have had a problem carrying them around fully loaded. I have the factory steel clips but I prefer the RIMZ.

after about 1000 rounds not cleaning

Tackstrp- I recently bought a new Taurus 608 and could not get past 16 rounds of 38 +p the first time I shot it. Locked up solid- had to release the cylinder-tried again- still locked up. Took it home, cleaned it, was able to cycle the cylinder- so took it back to the range a week later and same...

    Taurus 608

I've read the good, bad and ugly on Taurus (plus I have had two brand new S&W's that had significant problems right out of their respective boxes). I bought a new Taurus 608 with 6 1/2 inch barrel. Very nice action, shoots well using DA. I started off with 38 special +p rounds and didn't quite...

Follow up to 610 locking up

My very first post a short while back about my new S&W 610 locking up ended on a positive note -thanks in particular to MrRevolverGuy and others who took the time to give me feedback. I called Smith, they sent me a call tag. I sent in the weapon with a detailed letter. The weapon is back from...

    S&W Model 610-3 locking

Thanks General - good response- because I just realized I never had any problems shooting .40's with the the clips I use- only with the 10mm.
