    Ramblings of a noob

At my club, I think everyone reloads. There's NEVER brass laying around these days. Could be brass scroungers hitting the ranges (there are several) early in the mornings. A few years ago, I could pick up several dozen per session, but no more.

What Was Your First Reloading Press? Do You Still Have It?

Lee Classic that I still use for decapping. Then a Dillon 550B used for 9mm, 44 Spcl, 44 Mag, 7.62x39. Other bottlenecks get developed on a Rockchucker until they're where a rifle likes them, then bulk loading goes to the dillon (but decapping is still on the Lee and I mostly neck size on...

    MOA Shooters

A neighbor loaned me a match rifle that had belonged to his father. I'm guessing it was of 60's vintage. Built on a Remington sgl. shot action with a really long Lyman scope on it with external adjustments. Took it to my club & set up a 3" Shoot N' See at 100. Set the rifle up on A Hoppe's...

    Moly coated bullets

I went through the whole moly fad. Rolled my own, 3 spare tumbler tubs, BB's, etc. The only difference I could detect was really dirty fingers. :(

    Hand priming tools

I use both a Lee and a Hornady. Both are a pain to change from small primers to large so I use the Lee for small and the Hornady for large. Drawback for the Lee is their proprietary shell holders. Hornady uses standard shell holedrs.

    Kel_Tec .22 Magnum Pisrol

Got mine a few months back off Gunbroker.com. Lots of 'em listed for way over MSRP. I got lucky and still paid more than I wanted. :banghead: First try at the range-FTE every round. Sent it back to KT. Came back in about a week repaired (dunno WHAT they repaired but it ejected ok). Had a...

    N E F 223 rifling information needed

Go here: http://www.go2gbo.com/forums/index.php/board,126.0.html These guys are H&R addicts. Twist rates are listed in the FAQ section I think. My .223 is 1:9.

    Best Buy in 308 Dies?

I've sorta become fond of Hornady dies lately. I really like their seating die.

Question about optimizing tumbling, media and polish.

Try adding a bit more media and 1/2 a dryer sheet (really!). Also, try some Flitz or car wax in the media. The dryer sheet will help control the dust and keep the inside of your tumbler spic n span.

    H&R/NEF in stainless?

H&R Handi's can be tempermental at first but they seem to tighten up after being shot a bit. Some are more finicky than others but generally they can be coaxed into good shooters. You might try Graybeard Outdoors. There's tons on info on H&Rs there. http://www.go2gbo.com/forums/index.php I...

    Marlin model 60...

Don't use cheap Wally World bulk Winchester ammo in them. Don't ask me how I know this.

Trust your wives! They know things.

Well I, for one, have changed my buying habits drastically over the past 4 years due to some physical limitations that have cropped up. These days, I'm buying single shot rifles but nothing larger than .308 since the only hunting I do anymore is ground hogs and maybe deer once a year and my...

Ruger Mini 30 vs Mini 14

Using the words "Mini-30" and "accuracy" in the same sentence is not permitted. :D They're fun to shoot and will usually deliver 1 1/2" - 2" groups if you put decent glass on them and do your part. At least mine does anyway.

    This Morning at the range

I did the same kind of thing with my #1 grandson last August. Started him on the 50 yd. rimfire range at my club with my Marlin 60. Like me, he's left handed so the 60 was perfect for him if a bit on the longish side (he was 9 at the time). He had the time of his life and I carefully monitored...
