Winchester rifled slugs from walmart tend to be very accurate at 50 yards out of my Stoeger and my Mossberg and my Smith and Wesson 10/20. I do much better with them then the Remington sluggers and the Fiochi I have tried.
I have a NEF single shot 20 gauge not a bad gun fun for clays but on occasion the shells will get stuck and need to be poked out mostly noticed this with winchester cheapo ammo. I think the Gun was only $115. I also have a Ithica M66 single shot 12 gauge I really like it with the lever to break...
Benelli Super black eagle 2 can shoot slugs for big game and shot for small game, it is light and very reliable.
If I had to pick a rifle a Marlin 30-30
I wouldnt want to be equipped with a 22 or a single shot if I were to get into it with a Bear.
I own a newer ADL S/S (dicks) it does not have an adjustable trigger but the trigger is not awefull but not as good as the adj ones. You can pay a smith a few bucks to lighten it.
Swarovski glass on a 5K budget to replace a collection I would consider pissing money away, only for the reason of the budget you can get very good optics for less- however if you can afford better more power to you. My only point is you can do a complete collection for 5K and get good quality...
All I was stating is $5,000 can do a lot if let it, if you go out and have to Have Swarovski glass and a Dakota Arms 97 Rifle your not going to get much for your $5,000 IMHO. $5,000 is a lot of money but you can piss it away.
You can do a lot with 5K to rebuild as long as your not a snob about it.

Wow Im not saying anything bad about Savage, however I am saying every Savage on the internet seems to shoot sub moa every single one thats honeslty why I got one, and mine does not shoot sub moa with normal ammo. I love my Savage it was my first gun you know that bond. Funny you should mention...
I just pulled the trigger on a TC venture in 243 (predator is a camo model) after a lot of personal debate on what to get. I handled the Weatherby Vanguard S2, the Ruger American, Browning A bolt, TIkka t3, but the TC was just a better all around feel to it even the stock did not feel like a...
