I'll be using Birchwood Casey stain, I'm pretty sure it's water based. What's left is blotted areas of stain around the grip and side of the stock that doesn't want to come out. I'll see if I can find that in town. Thanks for the help.

Is there any type of finish stripper that will also take out the stain of the wood? I'm having trouble getting some of the old stain from the hardwood stock on my Savage Mk I. So far all I've found is possibly Klean-Strip Refinisher, however I'm not sure if I'll be able to find it. Anyone know...

A good used Remington 572, I don't think the new ones are of the same quality since the takeover, have one of the originals and it's a pretty good gun, not bad accuracy, somewhere around 1.25 - 1.5" @ 50 yds. Other good choices would be the Henry or a well priced Winchester 61/62.

The 30/30 with the brass reciever is 8.3 pounds but the one with steel is 7lbs, not much more than a marlin.
