Just wanted to chime in here - you could do worse than the S&W Model 10 police trade-ins that Bud's is selling for $269. These have the heavy barrel, and you can choose between square or round butt frames.

If you have a C&R license you can buy run of the mill 91/30s for around $80 from several different online dealers (which include the bayonet, cleaning kit, etc). $125 per rifle is no special bargain.

Right - that's what I mean. The cz-82 was opened up to C&R 03 licenses due to the work of a museum curator (I believe). It would be really nice if other equally modern, historically significant pieces could be classified as C&Rs.

What I fervently wish, is that other museum curators \ historians would write letters to the ATF unlocking gems like the CZ-82. If there was a historical firearm society or a firearm museum association that would take this on, it's a cause I would contribute money to.

I really like the S&W 642, it seems like a good compromise between weight and shootability. One thing about about the S&W J-frame models (such as the 642) that I appreciate, is there is a ridiculous amount of grips (including very large target grips and very small concealment grips)...
