    Wooden grips on a .44?

Nightcrawler, You're right, the box of AE I have here lists velocity at 1180 fps. I went to Federal's website after shooting some AE alongside CCI Blazer's. That 1180fps didn't sit well with me with that side by side comparison. CCI lists the Blazer 240gr at 1200 fps. It was like night...

    Wooden grips on a .44?

I've used the Winchester White Box 240gr too. Yes they are stout. I've been shooting the Federal/American Eagle 240gr JHPs lately. Those are, how should I put this, "exciting". Federal lists them at 1440 fps (4 inch test barrel). All I know is shooting those with my 5" Redhawk off a bench...

Maddock, that is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the link. --meathammer

    Wooden grips on a .44?

I guess I'm the odd-ball here because I tried a Hogue rubber monogrip and a Pachmayr Decelerator grip and now I'm back to using the stock Ruger wood grip on my Redhawk. My issue with the Hogue was that it gripped so well it would rub a blister next to my thumb and the grip never felt right to...

    GP100 Front Sight Options

I bought one of the Marble's green fiber optic sights for my Redhawk and love it. I have a green fiber optic sight on one of my shotguns (the kind that clamp to the rib) I liked the concept, very fast/easy to pick up the front sight. If you're sure it's compatible with your GP100, I'd say go...

Once and for all thread: Wolf in an AR

TimboKhan, steel cases and the green coating is not standard to what the rifle was designed for. I'm glad DPMS got back to you on the issue of Wolf voiding the warranty. If I thought it was untrue, I wouldn't have posted it. Anyway, I can't say I blame them. I own a 16" Armalite and only...

Once and for all thread: Wolf in an AR

I spoke to a guy last time I was at the range who had a Wolf experience. Apparently DPMS will void your warranty if you shoot Wolf ammo in one of their rifles. His rifle was sent in for work, they let him know his warranty was now void. From DPMS website: After an experience I had...

    Boyd's Laminate stocks

I ordered a Boyd's laminate stock for my Remington 700 ADL to replace the plastic one it came with. The rifle actually shoots pretty well with the cheap factory stock, I just never really liked it. I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with their product. Anyway, I ordered one and...

What Round do you deer hunt with??

7mm Rem Mag. I use Federal 175 gr. soft points. Part # 7RB I went with this round because they don't "grenade" as bad at close range like 150 gr. do and two holes are better than one. Also my rifle likes the heavier bullet better. --meathammer

    recoil 1911 vs beretta 96

I own a Beretta 96 (my first handgun) and 2 SA 1911s. I would have to say the 96 recoil is somewhat snappier. I replaced the stock recoil spring in the 96 with a 16# spring from Wolff. (I believe the stock spring is a 13#.) This seemed to make the recoil less snappy, especially with hotter...

    Debate in Sociology Class

There should be more college students like you. Maybe you'll get some of them to think. I also would've mentioned to the people that brought up Chicago's crime problem that Chicago also has very strict gun control laws and they do not work. Kudos. --meathammer

    Sights for CZ 550 American?

I am wondering the same thing. I'm looking to purchase a CZ 550 and would like irons on it also. I'm sure a gunsmith could add on irons after the fact, but it would be more convenient if it came this way. Is this something that can be ordered from CZ as an option? --meathammer

Hottest ammo the Garand can handle

I wondered the same thing and ended up just getting the adjustable gas plug. I have heard opinions from both sides - only shoot surplus or don't worry about it. I think installing the plug is worth it. I still shoot surplus, but I shoot a lot of American Eagle 150 gr. which is rated at about...
