You got a nice looking gun. These Ruger's are "tack" drivers. I have two of them (both 22/45's) and I wouldn't take anything for them. They are the most accurate pistols I've ever shot.

I have the XDm9 and it's an awesome firearm. I highly recommend it.

Alot of people don't like them, they had some real growing pains when S&W introduced them. It's not a popular gun, and the resale price is next to nothing for them.

I wouldn't recommend a Glock in .40 caliber because they don't have a fully supported chamber. I would recommend Glocks in 9mm. Yes I know lots of Police Depts use them... still that doesn't mean anything other than they got a good deal... and of course the Glock reliability thing... still, no...

Wow, many seem to not have seen new shooters at their ranges. My free US Park Service range, since the election has been so packed I haven't been able to shoot there. I gave up going there a month ago and have went other places. I did walk the shooting line and saw all walks of shooters...

The XD's are fine handguns. I own several, in 9mm, including an XDm. There was a post above regarding the accuracy. Well, I'll say this, I can blow the center out of a 1 inch target at 25 yards consistently with any XD handgun, subcompact, service size or the XDm. I've done it in both...

What does that have to do with the thread? The thread is about an XDm.. I think you have confused me, or perhaps you were thinking that the XDm is a subcompact?

I've never had a more accurate pistol that the MKII / MKIII series Ruger rimfire pistols... These are hole in hole accurate.

I wouldn't use the .22 for home defense unless it was the only gun I owned... and if it was, I'd be saving to buy a more suited gun for home defense.

I've actually had "Excellent" experiences dealing with LEO while carrying. They have all been positive about it. I'm sure your "personal" attitude has alot to do with it as well.

I never thought about carrying a lighter until reading this post... I used to smoke, quite almost a year ago... and I was afraid that carrying one would make me want to smoke... I know now that it wouldn't. I think I'll get two bics and put them in the cars... good idea.

My PT92 is a tack driver, along with my PT99... I haven't had any 9mm as accurate as these, including my P229.
