    Best Firearm Movies

Feel free to berate me Please feel free to berate me, but I like "Sucker Punch". The story is fantasy, but the weapons used are factual, and they even have to reload them. The actual weapon manipulation scenes are few and far between, but the scenes showing tactics (as far as I have been...

Help me spend my discretionary funds

Yet another tardy reply Thank you all so much for replying to my Oh-so-lazy question. I was blessed to attend Wannemacher's with a pocket full o'cash and an understanding wife. I ended up getting a few things. I took your advice and decided to go w/ a proven 1911 platform. A Wiley Clapp...

Rifle : Scope cost ratio for beginner

A tardy yet thankful reply Kind Members of The High Road, I apologize for the tardiness of my reply, but I was just cutting out the foam on my new Pelican 1750 and I finally remembered all the great advice I received from all of you. I am the proud owner of a Savage 10fcp W/ McMillan A5...

Kimber poll to set the record straight

Kimber quality I have had my Custom CDPII for 7 years or so and have been quite pleased with it. Within the first 500 rounds or so, I had around 15 FTE's. I read the manual and it clearly stated that it needs 500 rounds of break-in. Spending that amount of money, albeit mid-level, I'd expect...

Help me spend my discretionary funds

0to60, I have been afraid that someone else would suggest that. I have been thinking about that very thing and thought of Nighthawk while I did it. It's like there are two angels sitting on my shoulders (when talking 1911's, neither one could be a devil), and one is telling me to buy...

Help me spend my discretionary funds

Putt380, Thank you for your reply. I have been blessed with an understanding wife that has turned a blind eye to my growing collection. As such, I have attempted to involve her (sadly, unsuccessfully) in range trips/get her CCL. I got her a S&W 442 and later a Ruger LCP. Unfortunately, I...

Help me spend my discretionary funds

0t060, I do understand and agree with your logic. The only problem is that I have been collecting weapons for some time, and my wife has started to question the reasoning behind my additions/addiction. I am trying to strike while the iron is hot. I really want a 1911, but have a hard time...

Help me spend my discretionary funds

Hello kind and learned members of The High Road, I am in the unusual position of having discretionary funds. I will be coming home from Afghan. just in time to make it to Wannenmacher's Gun Show in Tulsa. My lovely and generous wife has seen fit to let me add to my collection. I have...

What should my 3rd handgun be?

Sorry to hear about your limitations. If I were you, I'd seriously consider a S&W 686 or a Ruger GP 100. I don't think you would be disappointed with a quality revolver. Either weapon would be a great choice. If you go the GP route, you can get stocked up on ammunition as well. Best of luck

Rifle : Scope cost ratio for beginner

Thank you all for your sound advice and not berating me for such an oft-posed question. I think I have decided to save some pennies between now and March and purchase a....... Vortex Viper PST 6-24 X 50. Thanks to all who recommended this and all other options. I read extensively...

Rifle : Scope cost ratio for beginner

Kind and learned readers of The High Road, I am going to start out in semi-long range (home range max 400m possible new range max 1000m). I have picked out a DMPS LRT-SASS .308 as my weapon system. I am interested in what cost ratio is generally followed in rifle/scope configuration. I...
