I have one on a .270...never played with it, supposed to be dialed in from the factory for 140gr. but most common loads are 130 and 150gr. You don't want to go prone with one as they kick up dirt and they are loud.
Young folks get injuries that require a cane all the time. Football is hard on the joints and back, car accidents. Standard hardwood crook neck is pretty stealthy and packs a hell of a wallop. You could check out CaneMasters:

I use .22 LR Aguila Super Colibri LRN 20 Grain 500 fps No Powder Super Quiet out of a Ruger 10/22. I have to load them one at a time manually but they work good on pigeons and sound like a large pellet gun going off. Neighbors have never noticed or complained in my cookie cutter sub-division.
I have a BW that I carry with the .22WMR cylinder. The last few times to the range I have had the cylinder pin back out and jam up the cylinder. I contacted NAA and said to send it back for a free repair. I planning on sending it back this week.
I sometimes carry a hickory stock cane modified with a striking edge or a custom Barry Dawson sword cane. I also have a Cold Steel Slim stick and Livesay Gray Ghost that I sometime use when hiking. Carried mostly when taking my dogs for a walk.
