20 Gauge for HD Use.....How Many Use It and Like It???

I have been very satisfied with my 20g Remington 870 and Mossberg 500. So satisfied that I don't even shoot my 12g very much anymore. The 20g is perfectly acceptable for HD with #3 buck or whatever you choose to use. The reduced recoil of the 20g is also an added plus for follow up shots if the...

    Question re p.g.o. mossberg 500

Thats how I bought mine, PGO and it took all of 15 minutes to convert it to a beautiful wood stock set I bought online. Recently added a 20" vent ribbed barrel with choke tubes and a limbsaver recoil pad. It is a fantastic firearm that I will never part with.

    Savage Axis XP reviews/advice?

Not 30-06 but... I have an Axis in 223 and it is a very accurate rifle. I'm sure the 30-06 will be the same. Only thing it somes with a heavy trigger, but it can be very easily lightened. The accuracy of this rifle will surprise you to say the least.

    Short stocks.

I almost always try and purchase youth sized stocks and rifles. They just fit me better, and that makes a world of difference in comfortable shooting. I've also cut several stocks down to my liking, I hate to do it but they just don't fit me right. Wood or synthetic, I can make it fit.

    Savage Axis XP 223 remington

I've got an Axis in 223, but I added my own scope. The rifle is very accurate and the action is very smooth. The trigger from the factory was very heavy. I lightened it by swapping out the spring with a much lighter one, took all of 15 minutes. It made the rifle more enjoyable to shoot. The...

Mosin Nagant - Am I the only one who does NOT like these?

I have a M38 with a laminated stock, it's in very good condition. I call it "The Dragon Slayer" It's one of my favorite rifles...It's a keeper!

    S&J Hardware Velcro Sidesaddle

Very nice looking product and thanks for the pics and review. Would 20ga shells work and fit snug with it? I mostly shoot 20ga and that would fit perfectly on my setup.

which Mossberg 500 stock should I get?

I went round and round with aftermarket stocks for my Mossberg 500. I had the ATI Talon, it looks nice but it didn't feel solid to me. I tried the Blackhawk spec ops recoil reducing stock and It raised my line of sight too high above the gun. In the end I much prefer the Hogue 12" LOP stock or a...

    mossberg 590 forend question

The hogue adapter nut should solve your problem, I had to do the same with mine and it worked fine. I put a hogue forearm on my mossberg and the tube was too short, (6.75") the adapter nut fixed it right up.

Anyone prefer no tube extension on HD shotgun?

I have two 870's and both have 2 round extensions on them. But I have recently purchased a mossberg 500 and i'm really enjoying not having the mag extension on it. 5+1 is plenty, especially if you have trained and use your gun often. YMMV but it works for me.

20 or 12 Gauge for home defense

A remington 870 20ga with an 18" barrel and #3 buck, it's all you will need and then some. Remington make a model #81161 that is perfect for HD, it's label as a youth gun because of the shorter stock. 20ga ammo is readily availabe around where I live and is priced right also. Check out Wally...

    Which Cheap Shotgun?

Another thing to consider is the weight of the 2 shotguns in the OP question. The pardner is a heavier gun which equals less recoil, the maverick 88 is a lighter weight and kicks like a mule. I would prefer the heavier of the two, but YMMV depending on your use for the gun. Both are a quality...

    Finally, An Express With Issues....

I have 2 870's and I've never had a problem with either of them and they are both new express models. I hear lots of bashing and complaints about the express line, but for me they just plain work. I'm not real fond of the finish on the guns, but mine show no signs of rust either.
