Yes, strip and clean it! Generally, these rifles are liberally coated with protective preservative...NOT lubricant. Therefore you should always detail strip and fully clean them before firing.

You could always just pull a bullet from a 7.62x39. You should also be aware that each manufacturer's bullets are going to differ slightly with respect to bearing surface, degree of ogive, boat tail or plain base.
