just picked up a new century ak. Should I clean this gun before I shoot it? It seems pretty oiled up when I took it out of the box

You should clean and inspect any rifle before you shoot it.

Take special care to clean the firing pin channel and make sure the pin moves freely in the bolt.

Yes, strip and clean it!

Generally, these rifles are liberally coated with protective preservative...NOT lubricant. Therefore you should always detail strip and fully clean them before firing.

Some of that stuff will come off easily now.....if you bake it on (by shooting it, getting it hot) it will be much more difficult.....
