Winchester 1897 Take down. Manufactured in 1944, mint condition, 28" barrel. I can't wait to turn in into a trench gun. :cool:

The first gun I fired was a Ruger Mark II. It was my freshman year of college for ROTC, so about 6 years ago. I loved it then, I love it now. :D

I buy my .22lr and 9mm locally, usually at wal mart. It's always pretty cheap. As for 5.56mm, I usually buy online. Even with shipping, I can get PMC or Federal for around $6.50 a box. If I need some right away, Bi Mart usually sells a box of 100 for around $35. A little more expensive, but also...

I appreciate the feedback. I'll probably end up trying some renaissance wax for prevention, but other than that, I guess I'll just have to accept the fact that the finish will continue to degrade. I don't have a huge collection, and I'm not at a point in my life (only 23) where I can buy guns...

Thanks for the replies. I figured as much, I just thought maybe there was some type for polish out there I could use. It's a beautiful gun, but keeping it stored away seems like such a waste. I guess when it gets too scratched out I could always hard chrome or robar it.

I just got a slightly used FN Hi Power in a very high gloss blue finish. From what I've gathered it was part of a CDNN batch from a few years back. It's a beautiful gun, but it seems to pick up scratches and knicks from just about anything. I've handled it carefully and only fired a few rounds...

I mentioned this a few posts back. It finally came in. FN Herstal Hi Power. Circa 2003, blue gloss finish. Gorgeous gun. Never seen one in this finish with an FN rollmark.
