    Black powder, Brands

KIK Goex is now handling KIK, and I have been using it for some time now! I purchase it from Powder Inc. online. There is no significant difference in it and Goex as far as I can tell. It's cheaper, so I'll prob. be using it often. Buy in the bulk to cut down on shipping fees, and if you...

are you a traditionalist or do you like technology?

Thats funny right there Guess I don't really understand inlines. When I want a modern gun I buy a modern gun. Inlines have always sort of struck me as buying an F150 but insisting it be equipped with a Model A engine.(Quote) I'm with you 38special, and I really like the F150 thing:) Hope...

    cva hawken wont fire

My vote would go with the Peened or mushroomed nipple. After a few tries the hammer will push the nipple down far enough to fire. I would just replace it! If the problem still persists, look at the hammer to see if it strikes the nipple on center, and then the spring. Betcha it's the nipple:)

    T/C Hawken in .45 cal. ....

What Cal. is it? Curious about the cal! If it's a 50 cal. the barrel is 15/16. A 54 cal would be 1" across the flats. All Renegade barrels are 1" and would interchange with a 54 Hawken. You could always find a good barrel for either and drop it in, if the orig. barrel is toast. The...

What's a good deer gun for youth?

Hi there! Nothing takes the place of shot placement. I think most would agree the 243 is prob. the all around best youth cal. in America for taking deer size game. The perceived recoil for the 243 75 gr. is about 8.5 fp's. Compare that to the 3006 with 150 gr bullet of 17.6 foot pounds...

Ok, THR members, where do you buy your real black powder?

KIK Real BP Powder Inc. is a Distributor for Goex and other Black powders. Check out the KIK powder they carry. I use it now, and can't tell any difference in it, or Goex. I like the price of KIK It's real black powder, not a Sub.! Brad

    Hawkin 50 cal load advice

Pyrodex P will work great in your 50 cal. I use Goex 3f, and Pyro P in all my sidelocks. Remember when using 3f to use about 10 grains less than when using 2f. Because of the smaller grain you will get a faster burn. I use it in my 62 cal. smooth bore also. For hunting Elk with the 50, I...
