Another vote for the Celestron 100mm Ultra. I looked through a lot of spotters at Cabelas and Bass Pro. The two best I found for under $400 were the Redfield and the Celestron. The Celestron was brighter, but its also massive. I found a nice Slim table tripod that hold it very well.

You'll be surprised how far that lb of powder goes. I assume you have bullets. Do you have a caliper? If not, that should be on your list. Get your loading tray, a vibratory tumbler, and some crushed walnut shell from Petco. You should be good to go. Enjoy!

Personally, I would PREFER not to get shot by either. I'm certain any aggressor you might encounter would feel the same way. I doubt they would be concerned with PF or standard deviation. Pick the one you like best and hope you never have to use it.
