OK here are the results:
Out of 100 shells, I FL sized, trimmed to the same length , Flash Hole debur, primer pocket uniform, weighed (normal distribution with some outliers), I took 10 shells (within decimal grams of each other) and checked the neck concentricity with the Forster CO-ax case...
Parker51, you are right I do not have the best or at least the most expensive guns, and that may keep me from tightening up the groups even more than I have. I shoot at the same time as a bunch of benchrest shooters. I am always asking them what tricks and techniques they have so I can continue...
I have been reloading for about 2 years. I started so I could get better quality ammo for much less money. I am not going to be shooting in matches but I am always trying to get that extra performance out of my loads. I just recently purchased a concentricity guage to make sure my dies, brasss...
I have the Forster tools to neck turn and check neck concentricity so I was planning on doing that anyways, but wanted to determine if I was starting with a good base. Thanks.
Here is an inexperienced question, but here goes:
Is LC 308 brass considered comparable with any premium brass like Nosler or Hornady Match grade or is it comparable with commercial RP and WIN? I know the military brass is thicker and will hold less volume, but how does it rate in terms of...
I have used the Hornady SSTs in my Ruger 30-06 and I do agree that it is devastating on game. I would like to look into the HP Game king since the match 168 shoots so well out if it now. Thanks.
All thanks for your insight. For some reason I was not getting notified of threads added. I will check to make sure I did not miss it. I had been trying the same bullets on a 30-06 as the .308. My buddy and I decided to split the costs of bullets until we found the most accurate for each of the...
I have a Rem 700 SPS Bull barrel that loves Sierra match HPBT 168 grain on paper. I decided to hunt with the rifle and have tried several different hunting bullets (Nosler Accubond, Nosler Ballistic, Nosler Silver Tip, Hornady SST)l but am unable to get the accuracy as I do the Sierra. I finally...
In this batch I am working on to get them concentric, I would need to get between .010 and .011. These are once fired rems. Not sure if I am cutting too much.
Once I have a base line, then turn the remainder at that setting. So as long as I do not have any split necks, I should be OK? I just want to make sure. Thanks
I purchased a lyman neck turning attachment for my trimmer and started turning cases. Before turning, the neck thickness varied from .010 to .012. In the process of evening out neck thickness, is there a source for the mimum thickness you should cut to for any caliber? Thanks in advance.
All thanks for your feedback. Jmorris I like the compressed load idea.
Steve I have shot better with a box of match grade blackhills (just under 2 inches). It was only once box so I hope it was not a fluke since I have not been able to repeat with the handloads(FMJ only so far). I reload...
