Gang ....
I've been reloading .38 special for years ... and now have decided to load 357 Mag. I'd like to find a load/bullet/powder combo that works well for both pistol and the rifle.
When loading .38special I have typically loaded 158g LSWC and not given much thought to leading, bullet...
thanks you Gamestalker for the thorough post. I realize I was not clear in my OP. I meant to say, theose 6 rounds failed-to-feed .... the gun would not go into full battery.
Again, I would appreciate your thoughts on that
Thank you!
Hello.
I've never reloaded JHP before until I recently loaded some MG 125gr. JHP.
I set the OAL at 1.09 and out of 50 rounds had about 6 FTFs ....
Can someone provide info on what you have found to be best OAL for running this bullet in a Glock?
thanks
using the target sights ....
there was a time, a decade or so ago, when I would do just that.
These days, using a scope for one-hole groups sounds a lot more do-able :)
Hello.
I recently picked up a 6" Sig Hammerli .22 Trailside and I think I'd like to put a scope or red dot on the pistol.
This would be for shooting the wings off of mosquitos up to 25 yards. Let's place a limit on the cost of $200 total for scope and mount.
I would value the inputs...

Another powder practice
The fellow who taught me how to reload had a practice he used to avoid mixing powders and to make sure he knew what powder was in his hopper - after filling the powder reservoir he placed a scrap of paper on top the powder (inside the powder reservoir) with the name of...
No...I'm not lubing or adding anything
As far as loads...I went up to 4.6 grains of W231 and 6.2 grains of HS-6. With my Magnum primers I didn't think it wise to go higher.
In both cases I had even MORE smoke, and I wrote "call the fire department" down in my notes after shooting those...
I'd like feedback on what I'm experiencing with my 9mm reloads.
All being made on Dillon 550B with Dillon dies. I'm also using CCI Magnum SP primers as I found available at a good price.
Bullet: Montana Gold 125g
Powder: W231 4.3
OAL: 1.095
Excellent performance. I'm getting...
An Instructor's Experience
I myself carry a 642 with a CT laser grip. Massad Ayoob carries a 642 (as well as many other guns), and is quoted as saying it is one of the best values in small revolvers on the market. I like 642's.
That being said, as a NRA firearms instructor I have seen...
I potentially have the chance to purchase a Ruger Security Six for what may be a very good price...but since I'm not a Ruger guy, I need some help.

Case Solved
It was the targets.
Because I was using large targets of cheap paper, just hanging....it cause the bullet to make a "key hole".....
I shot 40 rounds of the same loads today at a cardboard target...and all was well.....
Thanks one and all....if nothing else I've learned the...
Maybe it was my target...
Sport45 may have hit on it....
I was using crappy paper targets hanging from a couple clips....
Tomorrow I'll put some cardboard backing and see what I get
Pushing a bullet through the chamber and the throat also sounds like a good approach
thanks guys!
A bit more info
I love that folks on the HighRoad are willing to share their knowledge.....
A bit more info....I just sampled 10 of my MasterCast Bullets....they were all right at .358".....
As far as checking the actual diameter of the throat and bore....I've never done that..and dont...
I shot my new S&W 642 for the first time this week. AT 7 yards a number of my handloaded bullets appeared to be tumbling (ugly holes in the target)
I'm loading 158gr RN Lead bullets using 3.6 - 4.2 grains of W231 powder...with OAL at 1.455
