For the money, I like the Federal high velocity valuepaks. I shoot them in my Ruger MkII Gov't target and my Ruger 10/22. They work great for me. I've never had good luck with Rem or Win stuff.
Thanks Sky, This one would be for long range shooting. I plan on a Leupold 4x14 on top and a Harris bi-pod on the bottom. I'm just trying get velocity comparisons between the two lengths.
I am considering adding a RRA Varmint to my battery of rifles. Does anyone have some velocity data that shows the difference between the 2 barrel lengths? I have the 16" mid-length already and really like it.
Thanks, Oscarcat
Hard choice
I own a RRA mid-length and a SA M1A loaded. Both are super rifles. I have no complaints on either of them. I guess it's what do you prefer. Have you handled or shot either of them? They have totally different feels. The M1a is a more "Old School" were as the RRA is more high...
I think the RRA would be the better choice. Better trigger. Armalite has a good rep, but I own a RRA LAR-8 and have a good friend with a RRA AR-15 and he loves it. I am very impressed with my 308.
I own a SA M1A loaded also. Good shooter, but scopes were an after thought for this platform. Bought a RRA mid-length LAR-8 A4 last summer put a Leupold 1.5x4 AR scope on it. I really like this setup. Haven't had one problem with it. I have only shot out to 100 yrds or so with it so far, but...
I own a RRA LAR-8 with a 16" barrel. It shoots great and is super accurate. I want to get the 26" varmint model for long range. A friend of mine asked me why the 26". He says that you get a full burn with the 20" and that it is more accurate. Anybody have some insight on this? It would be...
I currently own a RRA 16" LAR-8 with a leupold 1.5x4 scope and a Springfield loaded M1A. Love them both. Being preferential to the AR platform I would give my nod to the LAR. But it's like comparing old school to new school.
