Oh come on man. You sound like one of those people who buy meteor insurance.
That is really really hard to believe.
Well of course that company is gonna say that. They want you to buy their pepper spray products that cost 10-20 times as much.
They sell a 17.5 ounce 10 inch high can for just $4.12.!!! Called Hot Shot. An 8 ounce can of bear spray costs 10 times that. Can says it shoots out 27 feet. I don't really plan on using it as a sub for bear spray though i might. I think of it more as rat spray - the 2-legged kind. I've...
I have twice loaded up my rem 1858 for extended periods. One was for a year and a half and the other time was 2 years. All chambers fired perfectly when i did shoot the guns. I used unlubed wads.
That video about pvc bows splitting looks pretty silly IMO. He's pounding on the thing as hard as he can with a 2 pound hammer.!!! That will break anything.
Found a 10 foot section of 3/4 inch pipe along the road and cut it in half and made a one inch deep vertical cut on each end of the 5 foot section and installed some string. Very easy. I estimate the pull at 40 pounds. Could certainly kill a man or a deer with it. Didn't cost a penny and...
The loading lever latch on one of my 1858 remmies broke off years ago and i made a circular sleeve out of some poster board and duct tape. You just slide it on and off for reloading. Works quite well
Went to Sportsperson's Warehouse today and they didn't have any CF ammo!!! So i went to the BP section to buy some lead balls and they had no 451s or 454s. They did have 457s at $18 for a hundred. That is steep but i bought a box. No percussion caps either.
People are hoarding all...
All these advancements in BP rifles defeats the idea of BP. If you want a gun as convenient as a cartridge rifle then that's what you should buy.
If states did NOT have separate BP hunting seasons then no one would buy these.
I don't think the author of the G&A article has much experience with BP. He says the rem 1858 has muzzle energy of 250 foot pounds.. That's true with the target load of 28 grains but it's safe to go well beyond that.
Talking about Lincoln's War and BP rifles i remember reading once that after a battle, some officials went out and examined the guns laying beside the dead soldiers. They were astonished to find that most of the guns that were still loaded were IMPROPERLY loaded!!! They had a ball but no...
