My Ideal tool was first one. Got that one 55 years ago at the Air Force PX, Grenier AFB, NH. Loaded 30-30 for my Win 94, then Sav 340. Blew up lots of ground hogs. Then loaded 270 and 243. It was a finger buster. Still have it. But it's a show piece now.
Hi NC,
Yeah I got the Barnes #4 Reloading book and tried those loads. Reloader 19 is a little too slow and even though they are almost compressed it does not help.
I sent an e-mail to Barnes asking them about the issue. When I hear from them I'll update the post. Also tried Varget, H4895, IMR...
The Varmint Grenade 62 gr. out of my Savage 243 does not stabilize.
Tried different powders and loads and seating depth, etc. While the extreme spread and standard deviations measured on my Chrony don't look bad, down range they shoot groups as large as 8 inches. My 65 Grain v max go into 1...
Blindbat said he called Lee and they said,
,
reading between the lines, Lee admitted they have no quality control plan and therefore no QA. That's why they have an admirable warranty service.
It's more economical to have a warranty service than to implement quality control.
I've returned...
I tried VihtaVuori 310, 4.3 gr under 230 gr. It burns so clean I rarely need to clean my Goldcup. Bullseye is the worse for cleanliness.
VV N-310 uses a different composition in it's formula and is clean.
But be caustious because it is not only faster burning, but is one of the fastest. LOL
Outside of curiosity I went to the site and found it accepted my log in and password.
I stay away from any political aspects between the two and keep it to my interests in shooting.
Came across that issue with a 45 expander. Sent it back and they replaced it with a non defective die and no comments.
I also have 2 other sets of Lee 45ACP dies and thay are o.k.
krs is right about the the Lee LoadMaster. The plastic (nylon) parts can break alot and thats because of poor design of the priming pin and priming arm.
I was able to provise an engineering solution to Lee and they said, "they will look into it." Haven't received any further response...
I always tumble prior to deprime and resizing because it prevents particles from clogging the firing hole. The cases come out nice and clean. I might tumble as many as as 300 45 ACP cases at a time so I don't need wasted time unclogging the firing hole on 200 of them. Also do the same with...
Hi krs. I guess experience does count. I've reloaded only 55 of my almost 72 years. Along the same theme, there's a fellow at the range where I shoot that uses Bullseye in a 308. Says it works fine and saves alot of money on powder. :uhoh: I make sure I'm at least 5 benches away when he's...
Have you tried factory loads?
Also, if they are reloaded rounds the possibility exists that they are too hot for the lead hardness. A soft bullet might be stripping. Then again for self self defense at close up range it would rip some hole in the assailant.:D
If you discover the reason be...
