how many have jumped ship over to the .us sight.

I'm not really interested in getting stuck in the middle of this tiff.

But it looks like it's not going to be avoidable.

I am staying at this site (org) When checking the "currently active users" list on both websites, this site gets the most traffic.

I'm sure there are 2 sides to the story. I haven't heard either. I wouldn't have noticed anything was different if I hadn't seen the post & got the email.

I really like THR for the fact that it is fairly civil & well regulated. I hope it continues.

Never checked out the new sight.
I stick mainly to the reloading section.

I checked at one point and all of the posts in the reloading section looked the same. Are there any differences?

Are there any differences?

apparently the .us site is from the .org archive, dated at some time a few days ago.

posts made after that time are only on the one particular board, but supposedly will will be merged after the lawyers get their pound of flesh and the courts make a ruling.

I'm thinking about hanging my hat over on TFL for a while, as they seem to be no worse or better (though I get the impression they used to be laden with trash posts).

My internal BS filter works well enough and I don't have kiddies in the house the surf either.

every once in awhile i drift over to "us" site but all of the reloaders i trust and appreciate oppinions most from are on this site. thats why this site is on my quick tabs and the "us" site is on my favorite list (gotta find it to go to it).

Outside of curiosity I went to the site and found it accepted my log in and password.

I stay away from any political aspects between the two and keep it to my interests in shooting.

I missed the whole mess. I see there is the .us site that has spun off, was this because of banned topics? If so of what type? Same mods at both sites... what gives... I'm so confused.

Nevermind I figured it out. My logon also works over there and it seems that all of the threads from here are also there. I have the same post count, replys and private messages on both.

I missed the whole mess.

Here's my understanding....correct me if I'm wrong..

it sounds like Oleg started the site when TFL was temporarilly shut down (though I don't think they knew it was temporary at the time) Derek hosted the sight on his server and was the chief techy. The domain name reg. needed to be re-upped and Derek put it in his name. Either no one knew or cared about this at the time.

Now THR gets a ton of traffic and there are many commercial opportunities. Lo and behold....Derek holds the archives and the domain name is registered in his name.

Oleg offered to spot Derek $75K for services rendered, and the back ups.

Derek said no way Hosea.

Oleg filed civil suit against Derek and is trying to get crimianal theft charges as well.

Many of the mods took sides with Oleg and got the boot.

Both Oleg and Derek are trying to keep the conflict from dominating and thus killing the board.

Oleg still posts....has posted today.

Oleg pulled a technical fast one and got a copy of the archive.

Oleg now has a parallel .us sight up.

and you guessed it kiddos

it's all about "da money"

No...Not really...My understanding is that one of them decided to solicit sponsors and the other either wanted no sponsors or his piece of the pie...

I'm torn and as such post at both sites. On the one hand I think that Oleg got shafted here at the .org site. On the other hand, I'm not crazy about a bunch of ads and this site looking like ar15.com. :p

I agree, the adds can become a real PITA. I think GlockTalk is the worst. They are sticking adds in between posts in the threads now.

Just saw this concern: I never planned putting up ads on THR, so why did this consideration come up? Same as I never intended to charge membership fees for using THR -- this has always been an outreach forum and I'd rather not require paying for access.
