CQB 1x type sight w/o batteries?

I've been kickin this idea around for a while and between this forum, sksboards and surplusrifles.com have come to the conclusion that if your going to do it the drill and tap is the only real way, with the scout option a close second. I just dont think I would like it that far from my face...

CQB 1x type sight w/o batteries?

I didnt know the batteries would last that long in an aimpoint. Is that for all new models? I'll have to check into those. I looked at the pk-as, it looks pretty nice. I'll have to research both of those, thanks.

    Which SKS?

if it was me I'd shop around a little bit. If you cant find a Russian or Alby for a better deal I'd get the Alby for 400, they are harder to come by. Then save up and get a yugo shooter later. Of course you could probably shoot the Alby a little too. :)

CQB 1x type sight w/o batteries?

Hey, I have a sks paratrooper, one with the slightly canted sights. I can hit a 8" plate with it at 50-75 yds ok. But I really want to drill and tap a choate scope mount on it and put a cqb type sight on it for quick aquisition. But I'm looking for something with little to no magnification that...

CVA colt .44- cant get barrel wedge in!

geez George, you do sound like an old fart!;) (reference to earlier post ;) ) Thanks for advice though. I think I'm still a good ways away from finishing, this thing is pretty rough around the edges. I guess it would be a good idea to go ahead and get the rest of the stuff and see how it...

CVA colt .44- cant get barrel wedge in!

thanks everyone well after some consideration I decided to work on the wedge. I got it to fit and the pistol functions pretty good. It worked flawlessy unitil I took it all apart to see if I did something wrong, before I posted this question. I put it back together and it still works but every...

CVA colt .44- cant get barrel wedge in!

Hey, alright I took some pics: w/owedge w/ wedge You can see that the cylinder is pretty much up agains the barrel. I should have put something white behind the frame window, but I think you can see that the front of the arbor is not lined up with the window. The wedge...

CVA colt .44- cant get barrel wedge in!

thanks all for the replies, sorry I couldnt reply back sooner. I think gmtaov has described my problem (better than I did, doh!). The wedge is getting hung up on the inside of the frame. And I can see that there is probably more than 1/6" of the arbor in the front of the frame window. The wedge...

CVA colt .44- cant get barrel wedge in!

I'm trying to finish this pistol and I cant get the barrel wedge in. It goes almost all the way through then it cants to the side and wont come out the other end. Do I need to remove some material off the barrel? The instructions for this are a little vague to me in the booklet. Forum search...
