I have found one of these online and I will be buying it for about $500. Is this a good price? Also, when they say "match"......what does that mean and how does it affect the gun??
It appears I can get a Marlin 336 for around $400. I can get a Mossberg 464 for about $350. The Rossi Rio Grande is going for about $375. So, they are all in the same price range. Of course, the Henry is well over that in price.
By the way, thanks for the input. I am maybe changing my...
I am wanting to buy a plain lever action rifle in walnut stock with blued barrel in 30-30 cal. I am leaning towards the Mossberg because it is built after the old Winchesters. But I am looking for feedback and advice on which lever action is the best for the money. Thanks.
Well, it's laughable because so many AR owners are quick to judge those that own AK's or Mini's. If I am in a gun fight with an enemy with 100 yds between us, does it really matter that his moa is 4 inches better than mine??? Let's say I have the AK or the Mini and 100 yds away the enemy has...
I think it's funny how so many in the firearms forums talk about differences in MOA. If a gun is accurate, then the grouping is 2 inches or less. If it's 5 or 6 inches, it's bad accuracy. Really cracks me up. Accuracy only matters in a sniper situation, hunting where you need to place a shot...
I think .308 caliber will have a lot more range than a 30-30. I just recently got a Tikka T3 Lite in stainless barrel and a Nikon Monarch 4-12x50 scope. It's a great rig and spent less than a 1,000 for it. But a 30-30 lever action is on my wish list for hog hunting.
.308 is the best caliber to hunt all game. .270 is a good round but it limits you hunting in the mountains and larger game. If it's just deer, .270 is great but .308 is much better for large game and it's knockdown power. I own a Tikka t3 Lite in 308 with Stainless barrel and a Nikon Monarch...
Saigas are the best AK variants in the world. They are actually better than AK's. Their accuracy is underrated and the great thing about them is the different calibers that they offer. .308 and .223 giving them better ammunition that is more accurate than 7.62x39. And that is without...
I bought one about 3 or 4 months ago and have had no problems whatsoever. The scope is a little blurry at either extreme. 10x or 40x is not as clear but somewhere in the middle, I would compare it to a Nikon or Redfield clarity. I think it's a great scope for the money. Funny how people want...
I have a Saiga .308 and it is deadly accurate and lightweight. I have modified with tactical options and it's got the durable AK receiver but very light and accurate and reliable. Great gun within 200 yds.
Something else to think about is that a lever action gun will provide what you are looking for as a home defense or camping gun. A good truck gun, a Marlin 30-30 lever action will take anything down within 100 yards.
Might I make one suggestion? I know that everyone here will disagree, however, you can get into a good personal home defense/camping gun without laying down big dollars for the AR platform. I have purchased a dozen guns over the last year due to the SHTF scenarios and have yet to buy into the...
this is my dream gun. I hope to one day own one of these beasts. The Springfield M1A is the ultimate rifle IMO. I can't imagine why anyone would waste away this gun by putting a scope on it. It's beautiful without it and the iron sights are the best. Anyway, to each his own. I want the...
