Decisions, decisions
I have a 2nd gen, 1st model dragoon and an Uberti Walker. There is lot to like about them both.
It was great that my dragoon was lettered by Colt . . . but as the internal parts are not identical to any current production replica. I am a bit concern about using it...
Dixie Gun Works Part RP2300
Just in case you would like to consider another option, Dixie's revolver cleaning rod might be a good bet. http://www.dixiegunworks.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_102_508&products_id=2069
Harm? No. Difficulty to get it to go bang? Likely.
Congratulations on the acquisition! We all look forward to seeing the pictures.
Assuming safe handling is followed, I don't think there is any harm in keeping it loaded with the main charge, but without a priming charge.
I have not...
Spare Cylinder Feedback
I was lucky enough to pick up one of the Col. Cylinder's and I am quite glad I did. It is quite nice to load two at a time on a loading stand.
I am looking forward to getting one o the heavy duty loading levers when they become available.
Just a comment on potential tools . . .

Best of...

Even though a ROA is built to modern tolerances and with quality...
inexpensive razor option
I can say I have much experience shaving with a straight razor, but I would strongly 2nd that they make great patch knives.
The Dixie Gun Works razor makes nice, inexpensive option.
Thank you for sharing
It sounds like a very enjoyable event. Thank you very much for taking the time to post a little about your experiences here. You have made me more motivated to attend a shooting related event myself. I hope to attend a rendezvous and/or a North-South Skirmish event...
In the spirit of the other sales announcements, I thought it might be worthwhile to mention that DGW is currently offering the Pietta reproduction of the Army Model for $725.
Fwiw . . .
I realize that this is not what you are asking for, but I thought I would speak-up, just in case.
If after having a gunsmith give you the ok to fire the pistol, I could provide the needed shooting supplies for you to blast away at a range. I have not fired any single-shoot...
Thumbs Up - Black Dawge C&B Cylinder Loader
