I can second the fact that they are hard on optics. It broke my Vortex Viper windage adjustment and the ACOG you see here. The ACOG had some kind of debris inside the optic after around 3000 rounds of use. I sent it back and it was repaired.
I am using a TA33 and like it. All my shooting is done offhand so weight was the primary consideration. The furthest I have to shoot in my area is 300 yards and hitting a man sized target at that range is very easy (not standing). The TA11 might be a close second but weighs and costs more...
25 yards is not too difficult as long as you discipline yourself and practice regularly. I made a point of practicing 3 times a week bringing only one pistol and a spotting scope. It is important to try and call every shot. If you can't call your shot, chances are you were not focused on the...
I wouldn't bump the old one so I thought it would be OK to start another.
Time to bump this back up.
All these targets were shot offhand at 15 yards using a 200g. LSWC over 4.3 grains of Bullseye.
First up is one I shot today. Les Baer Premier II:
Next, Les Baer Thunder...
Lifesizepotato, you have just about all my must have pistols in your collection. Incredible photography to boot.
This is my favorite pistol. Looking back at my handloading log this Les Baer TRS has over 50,000 rounds of LSWC through it.
This target was shot offhand at 15 yards at USI in...
With standard ball ammo I agree. For us hand loaders getting MOA groups with the SCAR 17 is not that difficult. If you are interested in some load data just ask.
It is recommended to shoot 500 or so 230fmj first. The American Eagle is fairly warm and should cycle the pistol well.
My TRS has 40,000 plus rounds of mostly 200g. SNS LSWC with 4.5 grains of Bullseye. It will cycle and lock the slide back with a 18.5 lbs recoil spring. It is a soft...
The Springfield Professional is one of my favorite pistols. It shoots amazingly well with the 200g. #68 H&G. This was shot off hand at 15 yards on one of my better days.
The slide and frame slide easily with no spring. I don't think limp wirsting is possible with this gun. I have a kung-fu grip and have trouble anticipating the recoil more than any other pistol I own.
Keep in mind the pistol has had hundreds of trouble free rounds through it.
KU4HX...
UPDATE!!!!
The recoil spring was replaced with a factory 18 lbs spring. It was actually shorter than what was in there but it is a bit stronger (more difficult to work the slide).
Out of 3 magazines it failed to extract 4 times. I am about ready to get rid of this thing.
Any...
Why would the recoil spring cause a failure to eject? As long as the slide comes back smartly it is up to the extractor and ejector to get rid of the case. Wouldn't a weaker recoil spring be better for proper ejection?
[B] I have a Smith & Wesson 1006 that has about 600 rounds through it. After running 500 trouble free rounds through it I am getting failure to eject issues ever magazine. My handloads are on the hot side (180g. bullet 1300 fps) which is a max load. Even with weaker factory UMC loads the results...
