looking for something new (err used)

ah, good suggestions, all. I did overlook the fact that the range I have started going to in Plano has a nice selection of rentals. definitely will have to see what fits my hand the best (which, is my ser.70 1911) 8^) As far as what I plan on doing, well, that isn't for sure. I used to...

looking for something new (err used)

I currently have an S&W 39-2, and I looking to add something else in the 9mm caliber. I am looking mostly for recreational purposes (not planning on CCW anytime soon). I want something that is: easy to shoot, shoots well, and not too finicky. Casually I have considered the Sig 229, but...

papajohn- damn, that is is a hellava good idea! Like you said, I likely won't loose much... (I guess sometimes things are,or can be simpler than you think).

Thanks for the comments/compliments. I'll probably order a set of Hogues early in the week. Not sure, if I'll go light or dark wood (rosewood or kingwood versus tulipwood or coco bolo). I guess there are worse things to fret about..8^)

ok, look what followed me home!

You are right about the Herretts. I may end up trying to sell em, but that'll be hard to do as they are custom. I can buy a nice set of Hogues for half that. The problem with these Herretts is the distance between my pinky and trigger finger knuckles is too much for this grip, thereby...

ok, look what followed me home!

this is an late 1950's Colt Officers Model Match 22LR in really nice condition. Sadly, no OEM grips (the Herretts currently installed don't fit my hand well). Will have to change them out a set of OEM walnut as well as a pair of Coco Bolo Hogues. The trigger and the hammer have been polished...

    colt officers model match (22lr)

yeah, I just did a quick look on GB at the completed auctions, really good condition with boxes, 600+, w/o 500. guess my guy might be a little high...

    colt officers model match (22lr)

ok, I was at a local show this weekend and one of the dealers had a late 1950s OMM in 22lr. overall, in vg-excellent condition (finish) with more than a faint drag mark on the cylinder, but not deeply tracked, good lock-up, ugly aftermarket target grips, no box, no papers. What would be...

    Colt Frontier Scout

ah, good stuff so far, thanks for all of the input. Moewadle, if you can lemme know what the book is that you are thinking of that would be great. I have a colt book at home (I think it is "Colt Heritage") good history on the company, but weak on specifics of various models, but, a good s/n...

    Colt Frontier Scout

I just started looking at the Frontier Scouts, and I was wondering if someone can tell me the main differences. I know that they used aluminum or zinc alloy frames, but did they ever use steel? what is the difference between the various series (K, F, '62, etc). oh, by the way, I am talking...

    cleaning/short-term storage

ok, so you guy like the silicone sack-ups more versus the cotton? is that because the silicone isn't hydroscopic? and the foam case idea is bad because the foam will deteriorate over time when exposed to the oils? thanks,

    cleaning/short-term storage

OK, I have a problem. Due to excessive compulsive behaviour I now have some hand guns that don't see a lot of regular use (ranging from a s&w mod 57 to a high standard sentinel). I was wondering if I wipe them down periodically with CLP Breakfree (cleaner/lubricant/preservative), then take...
