    Mauser bolt/firing pin issue

Right you are - my mistake. It being an M93 was decided based on the bolt design, and that it has all the evidence of the modification process (gas port, thumb cutout for loading, spacing of barrel in stock). I simply wrote the wrong thing. I was under the impression that there were...

    Mauser bolt/firing pin issue

Yeah, I've heard that the NATO stuff is ok, but don't use .308... Personally, I won't be firing it until I can either load some light loads (which would mean buying reloading equipment, so not too cost effective right now), or finding some range-loads or "reduced recoil" loads that come factory...

    Mauser bolt/firing pin issue

That was what I was afraid of, actually. Maybe a good oiling / polishing would help. The dummy round I made is getting worn enough that it doesn't bind on the pin anymore, so maybe it's more to do with the ammo? Was the 7x57 Mauser cartridge rounder at the back?

    Mauser bolt/firing pin issue

I'm sorry - as a guy that works selling car parts, I should know better - details are necessary!! It's an M95 Spanish Mauser. I acquired it second-hand, and I assume it fired at some point. It has heavy signs of wear. When I first started messing with it the safety wouldn't engage. So I...

    Mauser bolt/firing pin issue

If I assemble the bolt properly (read: so the safety works) then the firing pin sticks out a bit, and binds on the round as the bolt is cycled. If I don't thread the firing pin / safety subgroup all the way in (or back it out one turn) then the action feeds properly, but the safety won't engage...

Mossberg 185 K-B bolt? (long shot)

Well, it's been a while - maybe time to try again.

is it possible to recreate an obsolete bolt-action bolt?

This is more of a hypothetical question, but if one had an example (or perhaps an individual willing to take measurements from an example), would it be completely irrational to attempt to machine a bolt assembly for an obsolete gun? The specifics are these: I have a 20 Ga. Mossberg 185KB and...

Model 93 Mauser - modified or not?

7.62 is good info, but I'm guessing with this rifle that it's not enough info (given the re-chambering thing and the obsolete 7.62 ammo they produced for it).

    Old stock - looks "repaired"

M93 Mauser - not sure what happened, but figured I'd fish for some input. Just behind the bolt there is what looks to me like a repair or something made in the stock:

Model 93 Mauser - modified or not?

Some more pictures of the modification: Showing the gaps in the stock: Showing the tooling marks I read about somewhere (seriously can't remember where):

Model 93 Mauser - modified or not?

30-06 ammo drops right into it (I hand-fed it one) which is why I guessed .308, but the bolt doesn't close on it, which is really what made me think .308. Chamber adapter seems like a good plan, desidog. Any advice on a lighter load but a length that'll sit in the Mauser's magazine (I doubt .32...

    If your wife...

That was beautiful. Like a short romance novel about your dream gun. Kudos to you, sir. You have very clear vision of your desires. Such a trait will save you much meandering in life.

Model 93 Mauser - modified or not?

I read that all the modified guns had that space on a website (http://masterton.us/Unmarked1916). Scroll way down the page to read about the mods (under "The 7.62 Conversions", item 3). Might not be .308, but definitely modified. I'll be talking to a gunsmith before I ever put a round in it...

Model 93 Mauser - modified or not?

I'm trying to determine if my Mauser has been modified or not. Does the space between the front of the rear sight and the stock mean anything? Edit: I did a little research just now, and apparently this means that it's been rechambered for .308. Any concerns here? Any precautions to take?

identifying (and problems with) Mauser (?) bolt

Ok, here's some more pics: Then there's the "what's it chambered in" question. All I can say is: it's not 30-06. The guy who gave it to me gave me a bunch of random stuff, and it was supposed to include an M1 Garand, but he couldn't find it (probably taken/hidden by a family member -...
