Non-lethal .357 Mag to the face

mortar shell survival I remember seeing a Vietnam War-era magazine article in which a Vietnamese was hit in the chest with a mortar round that failed to detonate -- the surgery to remove the "hot shell" was dicey, to say the least, but everyone survived. Goes to show that there's no "magic...

    who uses clipdraw?

OK for light revolvers I've worn one on a S&W 340PD (11 oz revolver), and it worked pretty well. Also tried one on my much heavier S&W 681, but the cylinder rubbed against the old hip bone too much without a protective holster.

    Let's DUMP the .357 Magnum.

4 year-old post on energizers Wow, this post started in April 2003 and it's still going strong! Maybe we should just keep it .357 Magnum after all. :)

.41 mag vs .410 slug ballistics

1/5 ounce = 87.5 grains. I agree, lighter than I would have thought.

For the DT AMMO lovers on THR!

at standard pressures? I still wonder how Mike can send such heavy bullets at such velocities without exceeding standard pressures for the .40 SW. Maybe an "ancient Chinese secret?" Anyone know of independent confirmation of the pressures?

    CCW handgun and other subjects

Lennyjoe What ever happened to the bill that was going to fix that ? *** ...You mean the "Guns in Bars" Bill? Yep, Gov. Nappy vetoed it-- seems the state politicians can't distinguish between a "bar" and a family restaurant when it comes to drafting legislation!

    Speed strips for Taurus?

Sorry I wasn't more specific-- I usually carry a Taurus 905 (9mm), and the magazine suggestion works fine for that.

    Speed strips for Taurus?

Another option for carrying extra ammo for a snub is to use an auto magazine, which provides a pretty slim profile (though fatter than a speedstrip). Loading is slower than the speed loader or strip, but certainly faster than loose ammo. Also allows carry of more ammo if you choose a high-cap...

    Interesting pocket gun comparison

Another thing about the pocket carry is that one can walk around with a hand already gripping the revolver while it's still in the front pants pocket. This may be considered a "paranoid" way to go, but it sure does allow faster draws. This is especially appealing when one is in an environment...

Kramer Confidant: How big/heavy a handgun can it handle?

Consider the Smartcarry as another option for deep concealment carry. Though also "slow" to access, the Smartcarry can hold heavier guns better. Based on type of pants/belt you're wearing, with practice the draw can be relatively quick (a stretchy waistband with elastic belt works well for...

.357 magnum vs .44 magnum recoil?

My 340PD (11 oz.) 357 mag with full power 125 gr loads recoils appreciably more than my 629 MG (39 oz.) 44 mag with full power 240 gr loads. But, in general, with typical handguns for the caliber, the 44 mag recoils harder.

    Any Pocket Carry Anti's?

I find pocket carry of my 340PD (also in a Desantis Nemesis) to be a very comfortable (and comforting) method. Nothing quite as reassuring as having a grip on a 357 mag when in an environment of dubious potential, while still appearing "casual" and nonthreatening.

need new stocks for my Taurus 445

s&w 24, I can feel your pain regarding lack of good aftermarket options for Taurus revolvers. I have several Taurus models and have asked around about replacement grip options, but it seems that no one makes them (except for some M85 small grip models). This is surprising to me, since Taurus...

    New Taurus shot-revo...

It must have a pretty long cylinder to accommodate a .410 shotshell. By the way, what's the actual diameter (caliber) of a .410 shotshell vis-a-vis 44-40?
