Your indoor method will produce holes in your carpet, bring a block of wood inside.
That said, I’ve never had an issue in over 20+ yrs of reloading, and I had a Lee progressive for a while so I’ve done a fair share of whacking😆
255gr Keith SWC at 850fps is what I feed my Cimarron (Pietta 4-click) Pistolero, and it gets carried when I get nostalgic.
Absolutely not a powder puff load.
However, for woods protection (I’m more concerned in my area about 150lb lions than bears) my choice is one of my 10mm autoloaders...
Thanks guys good info from all. I’ve got notifications set at a couple retailers for the PPU 10g SP…
Gary-the 2830 is what I was looking to order. Probably gonna work up with IMR4350 and the Lyman 44 data since the 1895 is the rifle they used.
Not looking to hotrod, I’d just like to find the round they switch to, and try to work up to/around that-it had to work ok with the number of rifles fit with the later sights.
I’ll be getting a copy of Nielsen’s book on the Chilean guns sometime after the holidays, hopefully it may shed some...
My dad just gave me a Loewe 1895 Chilean Mauser (standard rifle).
I’ve researched the piss out it/them and have a question.
I'm going to handload for it, I know the original load was a 173gr round nose. I also know that if the rear sight ladder has the dual spring tabs, a rifle has been armory...
You’re correct on the 29-4, but the 629 got it as the -2E
Thanks for the input on the Longshot (and others), the others I may play with down the line once powders open up on the market. 231/HP38 are both on my shelf and already on shelves at good prices. Longshot is pretty available too, but...
Quick update,
Longshot at 11.0 under the MBC 240’s averaged 1098fps. I tried 10.5/11.0/11.5 and the 10.5 ran 1009fps and the 11.5 ran 1131fps.
Seeing almost 3x the increase from 11.0>11.5 than from 10.5>11.0 leads me to believe I’m approaching max pressure.
I’m gonna try some for accuracy at...
My buddy Trevor at TWSKnives.com smithed me up this 80CRV2 set most recently. I haven’t used them on flesh yet, but a skinner he made for PVW over at western hunter did 3+ animals before it’s edge needed attention.
I’m surprised no one questioned Wyatt Earp’s “safety/hair trigger” comment.
I do know if I were a gunslinger that could afford “hair” trigger work on my gun, I think my not having a habit of resting the sear in the safety notch would be more about protecting the fine tuned angle of the sear so...
thanks! I did forget to add that I did buy an Uberti base pin from VTI before I even received it to get rid of the throughly annoying Pietta style (my friend bought the same model in 357 a month before me and in handling that I quickly hated the Pietta “puzzle slots”)
