Frustrated no more

I am trying to scope a 6.5 Carcano. First attempt was using a recomended Savage mount. Not centered enough; 2nd attempt is using a modified AK47 side mount and low profile picatinny rail. Too high. I am wondering if a "Flip Away" ring set can be adapted? Anyone have any input?

I like Ceracote. Home Depot sells a great little aerosal spray kit with small glass bottle that will apply it great. You have to thin it a little for spraying it is ceamic based and tough. Google Ceracote and watch the video.

My 20 round mag is stamped Check Mate. The others are "no name". The ten round mag came with the gun from Springfield. It has deep scoring gouges in the top side near the front about 1/2 inch long. All feel the same to me as far as ease of insertion.
