    I love my Makarov!

I took mine to a show-and-tell handgun National Guard drill a few years ago, and my buddies were impressed with the way the "Commie-Bloc hunk of steel" performed. (above quote from my Master Sergeant) Fine shooter that served the Red Army for about 40 years or so, right?

    DAO

My trusty Kel-Tec P11's trigger is smooth, and it feels exactly the same every time. No safeties to worry with - the trigger requires a long, deliberate action (stroke) to operate, so that is the safety in itself. I appreciate the DAO style trigger in both autos and revolvers.

    LEO's Using XD's?

XD 45 ACP on the way!!!!! I await one as we type... In the Guns&Ammo article, they state that some police forces are using them, but not which ones. I have one on order right now, should be here soon! WOOHOO!

    .22 LR firearms survey

Several... Marlin Model 60 Ruger Mark II Gov't Target Model Stainless Davis Derringer (paperweight) and my personal favorite, which is still unfired... My 4-yr-old son's Henry Minibolt, which his grandpa gave him for his first Christmas, when he was a whole nine months' old! :D

    Military people.

11B all the way! I don't post here often, but for this one: Former 11H (TOW missiles, hey igor!) until the Army deleted my MOS and blessed me as 11B. 16 years so far, all in the VAARNG. No deployments yet, but I still have 4 years to go! Air Assault school Nov '04 at the ripe old age of...

whats a good, cheap, .22 auto to buy these days?

How cheap are you thinking? I enjoy my Ruger Gov't Target Mark II, but it ain't the cheapest... The Phoenix Arms .22's get good reviews, and they are around $100 or so. Check one out - my .02! :D

    Tuff Choice?

Home defense with very little range time? Remington 870 Express or Mossberg 500. They are far more powerful, and they don't require the same amount of practice that a handgun does for proficiency. Sorry, wrong forum, but it's just my .02. :)

    Makarov VS. Hi-Point

Makarov. Like it has been stated, the Soviets used them from 1951 until the 80's or so, the simple design IS genius, and it's surprisingly accurate. If you have any gun shows nearby, buy your ammo there. The Wolf steel-cased stuff is what the pistol was built for, and Wolf 95 gr. FMJ costs...

    Ruger P90 .45 acp????

P90 is a fine choice! Like Whit, my first handgun was a P90. I bought it new in '91 with my first National Guard Annual Training (summer camp :D ) check. It has proven itself to be a fun shooter capable of digesting any .45 ammo I fed it. Big and hard to conceal, yes, but a great pistol...

    Winchester White Box JHP.

Yep, that's why I said "the valus pack is all FMJ "

I may be getting a Makarov.

With hundreds of thousands of Maks out there, all running beautifully, the one that firestar gets will be junk. It's just kahrma.

    Winchester White Box JHP.

The Value Pack ammo cuts packaging corners by omitting the pretty cartridge holders. The rounds are loose in the box. Other than that, I don't see any difference. The .45 and the 9 function reliably and accurately in my P90 and P11! Good stuff, I say. edited for aleko: the value pack is...

    Kahr E9 or Taurus PT111 ?

Just wondering... if you've considered a Kel-Tec P11? 10+1 power in a lightweight package, mine has been 100% reliable so far, and their customer service is great. The Kel-Tec Owner's Group (ktog.org) has a wealth of info regarding any improvements or mods you could ever consider, and K-T...

What were they thinking...New USAF BDU's

Well, it IS distinctive. With its attractive belt to flatter any airman's waistline, the new AF BDU will undoubtedly be the hottest dadburned uniform one could ever wish for. Whatever happened to loose, ventilating clothing? Maybe it'll be fine for types like the 2LT model, guarding a gate...
