I want to purchase a new concealed carry weapon. I am debating between the Kahr E9 or the Taurus PT111. They are both 9mm, one hold 7+1 the other 10+1. Need some opinions on this cuz I am on the fence. I am leaning towards the Kahr. I have a PT145 and I hated the trigger on it. THe Kahr trigger seemed much smoother... I welcome your input.

I got the chance to play with the Millenium Pros last weekend. I own an older PT111 and the Mil. Pro trigger is much, much superior to the previous models. You might grab a handful of M.Pro and see how it feels at your friendly neighborhood range.

It's that much different that I'd consider selling my PT111 and getting a M.Pro, and I've done some work on mine and make it feel less like trying to drag a log chain through a knothole.

Regards,
Rabbit.

I have a Kahr E9 (my wife would claim it is hers) and love it. Just last weekend I went bought a Kahr MK9 Elite98 which I also love.

My ONLY dissapointment with the E9 is that the front sight is pinned, not dovetailed like all the other Kahrs, and it is plastic. This precludes me from putting night sights on the gun without spending the extra $ for the machining.

I have no experience with the Taurus so I cannot provide a compairison.

Kahr's are right up there with the best in the business IMHO.

Their weapons stack up against ANYONE's.

Just wondering...

if you've considered a Kel-Tec P11? 10+1 power in a lightweight package, mine has been 100% reliable so far, and their customer service is great. The Kel-Tec Owner's Group (ktog.org) has a wealth of info regarding any improvements or mods you could ever consider, and K-T has a lifetime warranty.

The later model pistols are running far better than the early models. I think they are worth a look to anyone interested in a CCW 9mm pistol.

Hmmm

I'll look into the Kel Tec. I am pleased to hear I am not the only one who thought that the Mil. trigger sucked.

The Mil. Pro looks enticing.

Thanks for the Info all!

Copy what Stinger said.

I bought my K9 soon after they hit the market and haven't been able to say enough good things about both Kahr firearms and their customer service. With a Kahr, you're looking at an extremely accurate, inherently reliable robust handgun that typically displays excellent craftsmanship (though alas, even the best of the best have their lemons).

The newer MK models have an extremely desirable size/power ratio, but the original K series were excellent as well.

I had a Kahr E-9 but I sold it!:banghead: I have owned and sold many guns in my time but the Kahr was the biggest mistake. I should never have sold it and I knew it at the time but I did it anyway. I wish I had it back because it was a great gun.

I have checked out the Taurus guns but they just seem to do it for me. They don't look very well made and feel cheap.

If you are wondering, the reason the E-9 is less expensive than the K-9 is that they have made minor cost cutting production changes. The front sight is plastic and is not pinned like the K-9 and the finish is not as nice as the K-9. If the trigger feels good now, it will only get much better with use. Mine was decent for a while but after I broke it in, it was glass smooth and felt much lighter. Make sure to oil the trigger after break in for best results.

If you can get either gun, I would go with the Kahr. The Taurus has a bad rep for quality that isn't worth the risk when a better pistol on offer.

I'd also have to go Kahr. The PT1XX series do look promising, but with the reports of frame failures, I'd have to give it another 2-3 years to get its "act together"... ;)

My number 1 CCW gun is a Kahr. My wife is after me to find her one.

Here is a pic of mine.

P.S. Kahr owners, if your looking for Hex-head screws or the grip-tape like on mine, give me a PM.

Thanks

Mind made up. Kahr it is. Might look at the K series, but it will be a Kahr. Thanks all.

TM

Just as an FYI, 1911 hex head screws will fit a Kahr. They will have to be shortened a bit, but otherwise fit perfectly.

I would recommend a good hard look at the Taurus Millennium Pro. I have one of the new PT-145's that I'm very happy with so far. The trigger pull is NOTHING like that of the old Millennium series.
