I don't see the advantages so I would vote 'Gimmick'.
I do not fault anyone who chooses one.
But...
1-they're not significantly lighter than other pocket revolvers
2-they have metal components so they are no more resistant to rust
They're cool and all but I don't get it. 13 oz .38...
x2 There is no way to carry that without it getting some wear, however minute.
You can either make it a safe queen or look at the wear as wrinkles on an old woman's face; reminders of adventures that have passed.

I decided a long time ago to never allow myself or my loved ones to be at the mercy of someone who has renounced their place in the civilized world.
The various springs would go first, IMO.
After 5000 rounds I'd do a detail strip and deepclean and replace ALL of the springs. BTW the 5k number is arbitrary, but as good a number as any.
