    FFL Transfer Dealers

If you're in Jacksonville, FL and you're tired of waiting in line at Shooter$, I've found Lanny at Lanny's Jewelry (in Avondale) to be knowledgeable, personable, and always ready to help with a transfer. Rarely busy, and you can chat with his pet bird while he signs the paperwork.

Poised for Recession? Guns or Gold?

man, you're so right with that first one. Making a few percent on the stock market, or even a maybe-much-better return on gold, starts to sound pretty bad once you realize you're hemorrhaging negative-18% every month carrying over a balance on the credit card. That said, I seem to be developing...

    Zombie Apocalypse Preparation?

hee hee. One of my favorite images out of the otherwise grim Katrina news footage was a spray-painted sign in a French Quarter window that said KEEP OUT. OWNER INSIDE WITH SHOTGUN AND UGLY WOMAN.

    Target pistol - a good choice ??

Anyone else heard what I've heard about Trailside frames cracking? Can't remember where, but I remember when I was researching last year it was enough to put me onto Browning instead.

Need opinions on a new gun

To me, a solid little .357 stainless snubby to knock around is such an all-around fun option, if you don't already have one you're willing to shoot a lot or toss underneath the car seat without compunction. Cheap ammo, tough gun, lasts forever. One vote for that. Any chance your relative wants...

    Which do you shoot better?

I know theoretically there should be no difference in sight fundamentals and all'at, but an auto just feels much better in my hand. I like revolvers, I have three in fact, but somehow they never feel very well balanced. Too much weight hanging out front, instead of centered more over my hand...

    Kahr P380

Not to bring up matters of caliber (heh), but ...why would Kahr mess around with 380 in the first place? It's not that much smaller than their bread-and-butter 9mms. Anyone?

Buckmark rear sight at it's limit, still shoots high

Happens to me every 9th or 10th mag. One of these days I'm going to lose the little allen wrench that came with it, and then it'll be loctite time. Not that I'm lazy or anything.

    S&W 422 - anybody have one?

NICE photos, onmilo & 1blindref! I may have to wander on back by the store this weekend. Thanks for the opinions, everyone. Just the info i was looking for.

    S&W 422 - anybody have one?

So this old Smith & Wesson 422 .22lr just showed up in the Used case at my favorite dealer. It's a little beat up, a little blueing gone from the bottom edges of the slide. The price tag says $259, but it would be more like $200 with the 25%-off sale they're running. I think i could get that...

Why do I shoot to the left?

+1 for SteveC - I wonder if you have too much finger on the trigger. I do this on my Kahr occasionally. Do you find it's worse on guns with smaller/thinner grips?

    Taurus 617 size/concealability?

I'm skinny, so the cylinder bulge is more of a problem for me than it would be for most. Here's a comparison to my Kahr CW9 (same size as the P9) - which may or may not be useful for ya. My 617 is for sale if you're interested. :) But you could probably get a great deal locally on a used one...

    preferred Semi auto Caliber...

I'm poor. 9mm is cheap. I think that about covers it.

    22 Semis - experiences?

I agree, try both if you can (i'm a big fan of whatever feels best in my grip) but i LOVE my Buckmark Camper. Although i've heard i'm not the only one who's had trouble doing a full disassembly without bending the spring guide. Still, i fired a friend's S&W Model 41 last month and both he and i...

    Kahr Cw9

me too I had a little moment of weakness last year in the vicinity of a SALE $359 tag and have not regretted it since. Had to drift the rear sight a tad, surprisingly (it was visibly off-center on the slide) but ~1100 rounds fired so far with no failures of any kind. I doubt if most people...
