    How much ammo is enough?

I agree with Kipling: “A man can never have too much red wine, too many books, or too much ammunition”

Blued Colt or stainless Gold Cup?

I guess I'll be the contrarian here, but if I have the choice of the same gun in blue or stainless, I'll pick stainless every time. I like the clean look of stainless, the ease of maintenance and the fact that in ten or twenty years, the gun will look exactly the same, regardless of how many...

Freedom Arms new caliber coming soon

As long as you keep the chambers dry and remove all the sizing lube from the case, case setback isn't a problem. I usually tumble loaded rounds to make sure all the case lube is removed.

Freedom Arms new caliber coming soon

The cartridge in question has been around for at least three or four years. It's called the 224-32 FA, and is a 327 Federal magnum case which has been shortened and necked down to .224. Muzzle velocity is on the order of 2200 feet per second. Here's an example of a group at 100 yards...

A pair of Pythons spotted today

I wouldn't pay more than $500 a piece. But then I have zero interest in overpriced Pythons...

Is the Colt Python worth the $?

I've never had much interest in Pythons...I think it's due to the ventilated rib which looks, to me at least, like an unnecessary affectation.

    S&W 617 from Budsgunshop Disapointment

I would send it back to Smith & Wesson. About a year ago, I bought a Model 29 that had a similar problem. I called Smith & Wesson and they sent me a return label so all I had to do was box it up and take it to the nearest FedEx location. S&W paid the shipping charges and I had it back fixed...

Is "Casull" pronounced "Cuh-SOOL" or "Cuh-SULL"?

A gent I know who knows Dick Casull pronounces his name Ka-SOOL, with the accent on the last syllable. Speaking of names of gun designers, how about that of John C. Garand? In Hatcher's Notebook, Gen. Hatcher indicates that Mr. Garand pronounced his name "with the hard G as in go, and the...

    Freedoms Arms worth the price?

I have one... In my opinion, you won't find a better made revolver. Fit and finish are superb, as is accuracy. They're definitely intended to be shooters, not collectors items. I don't put 5000 rounds a year through mine, but I don't see why you couldn't. I haven't heard of anyone who's...

    Elmer Keith's 600 yard shot

Interesting thread... I've read Sixguns by Keith, and I consider it an interesting read, but I've always withheld judgment on whether Keith really was able to make the shots he claims to have made. The main reason for this is that the only point of reference I have is myself, and I can't...

    Spegel Grips

Not sure where you're getting your pricing information from, but if you'll go to Mr. Spegel's website (www.craigspegel.com), you'll find that his prices are significantly less than that, from $60 to $80 for most of his grips. I have a set on an N-frame, and I've just ordered another set for...

    NEW .44! Hooray!

Stainz: I like those Ahrends grips. I've got the same ones on my Mountain Gun:

    NEW .44! Hooray!

I like mine... I replaced the factory grips with Craig Spegel boot grips. They're a bit wider than the factory grips so they're more comfortable with heavy loads. Carries easily in a Simply Rugged holster. The holster converts to an IWB, so you can conceal it with no problem under an...

What is the biggest POS with a most ridiculous price tag you ever seen at a gun show?

Colt Single Action Army...every dealer seems to have at least one that looks like it was dredged out of a river bed, and he wants $2000 for it.
