Thanks for all the advice. He's out of town this weekend so I'll try the cleaning and such as soon as he gets back.

It was really hard to close with it cocked so I'm thinking option 2b: shooting it alot. Also the action probably hasn't been cleaned in a while so if anyone could give me a step-by-step guide for that it could smooth it it signifantly.

My father-in-law has a fairly old (10ish years I'm not sure) Huglu O/U with and extremely stiff action. I don't know much about O/U and I was wondering if there was some way of something it out and whether I should use some sort of grease to lube the action or would the hoppes gun lube work...

evbulter what did you get for the recoil pad. I've looked for a pad that replaces the factory pad, or did you get on that slips over it?

Title pretty much says it all. I'm the only big shooter in my family, and I've started going to the range by myself, and don't know if there is any legal ramifactions if say I get pulled over driving to the range. And to people that are going to post "use google" or some such, I'm no good at...

I'm wondering what the game laws are in the afore mentioned states on what the definition of 'resident'. My Dad is looking in buying some land in on of them and I want to know if I can hunt big game without paying an arm and a leg for tags.
