    'Scout' Rifle: Where to start?

The reason behind reduced calibers is only one . The average Joe can't easily be shown how to shoot the larger caliber's without alot of training. And some never. I do not want some googin behind me with a 9mm backing me up. Someone needs to do some research as to why smaller caliber rifles and...

And I don't post much so I will try to be polite. Read some Cooper , I mean really read it . Don't skim, read. Best thing I ever did for my skills. That will take you if you start now , about 7000 - 8000 hrs depending how fast you read. Best regards, JT

    'Scout' Rifle: Where to start?

Actually I believe L.C. Cooper's request for a forward mounted scope was based on his experience hunting dangerous game. Both eyes open, peripheral vision. Lots of guys shoot scopes with one eye closed. Not a good choice when you are hunting Lion or Cape Buffalo. The concept was based on a...

Opinions on some .22s on the used rack

Mossberg first ,then the 512. A Mossberg of that vintage will out shoot guns that cost 4-5 times as much. I have a 44 us that has made me alot of money at the range. Parts are a problem with the 512 , no so much with the Mossberg.

    Best non-custom 1911 for the $

Thompson ,late 80's production. Still the best 1911 out of the box I have ever picked up. You could spend more, but? Oh yeah, $318.00 in '87'

    Ammunition Prices

rswartsell Respectfully, Not usually but officers buy ammo for their backups. Stocking up is not confined to the general public. Belive it or not the bulk of ammo sold at large retail outlets is US produced. My 3 Walmarts here in Kalifonia don't ever have imported ammo for sale.I don't know if...

    Ammunition Prices

rswartsell, "If that is the true root cause shouldn't the shortages be confined to service pistol rounds? What would they be now, .40, 9mm, rarely .45's? Why all the .38 spl and .357 mag shortages as PD's have all gone semi auto?" Respectfully, Domestic production of .45acp,.38 spec...

    Ammunition Prices

Both folks I know who work in the ammo industry have said the same thing. The shortages are being caused by police depts across the USA. One dept. in the southern portion of California recently purchased 1.5 million rounds of the service handgun caliber. All large metro depts are doing the...
