    budget over under

I don't know if you're the nostalgic type, but I picked up a Marlin 90DT last fall and absolutely fell in love with it. 16 gauge, fixed mod/imp chokes, simple at its best and love the way it feels and swings. Nothing like a American made o/u from the 1940's. Anyway, depending on what gauge...

    scope FOV?

Yep, agree with walkalong there. For little critters and varmints, you might be taking some pokes. Bushnell had an Elite 2.5-16x scope that would be ideal, but I think that is getting up there in price. There a price you wanted to stay around?

    scope FOV?

as for the 6-18. I always like magnification in target shooting. not so much in hunting. I just got back from a South Africa hunt, had a 3-18 VX6 on my rifle to start the hunt, never dialed it above 8-10x. Furthest shot I took was on a Blesbok at about 250/yds using a Tract Toric...

    scope FOV?

Cabelas site is wrong. Both have the same FOV on Vortex's site. Objective size has NOTHING to do with FOV. Eye Box design and magnification can be correlated to it, although there is much more behind it its just easier to say magnification and eye box... Tube size people attribute, but it...

    scope FOV?

Not quite... OP, What model(s) are they? Eye box design is the more direct correlation to FOV in identical magnifications.

    Leupold Scope Price?

Lots of guys out there don't mind buying the older VXIII's. If anything goes wrong with it, you can still send it to Leupold. Since there are 2 newer versions out, many of the time the scope will simply be replaced with the newest version depending on the issue. Either way, there quite a...

    Leupold Scope Price?

They are actually selling for $400 on ebay, so, minus communist fees, you net about $350. A good 'shipped" price for a money or postal order payment would be $350-$375 in my mind.

    AR optics question. Need advice

Sold hundreds of them. Its tough as hell, but is bulky. Make sure you're aware of the reticle size. Can be a 6.5 moa dot which some people do not want that large of a reticle. Also, be certain which mount it comes with. There is usually a designation after the model. Model is RX30, then...

Scope base & scope ring torque values

Ring screws can range from 15-25. Most being around 20-23. Base screws will range from 20ish-25. Some crossbolt torque values will reach in to the 40's up even to about 65. All vary depending on manufacturer. Its best to use exactly what the manufacturer recommends,. They usually are...

Any disadvantage to 20 MOA mounts at shorter distances?

Yep. When Nikon rolled out the P 5 scopes, etc, I do believe there may have been some dimensional changes. Not 100% sure, but it is worth the confirmation.

Any disadvantage to 20 MOA mounts at shorter distances?

Never put a shade on one but The P308 series is based off the Prostaff line. Nikon recently changed up the prostaff lines and with that, dimensions. Best bet would be to send them an email, or better yet, send an email to the guys at Opticsplanet or similar to check the fits.

Any disadvantage to 20 MOA mounts at shorter distances?

I know the setup well. You won't have an issue.

Any disadvantage to 20 MOA mounts at shorter distances?

Depending on your scopes adjustment range and how everything lines up you may run close to the end of adjustment when sighting at 100 or possibly run out of range. However, unless you're using a high magnification 1" tube scope with minimal adjustment, it should work OK.

    leupold rings any good?

Have to say, I'm not the biggest fan of the rifleman rings. Its best to throw a few more dollars into the rings as they are so important in the mounting process. I'm also not quite sure what you are after now. You had mentioned dovetail, which had a few of us thinking Leupold Dual dovetail...

    leupold rings any good?

Because there is no spec for "weaver" bases and rings its common to not have fitments in older manufactured bases or rings. new manufactured weaver style bases and rings adhere to larger recoil notches in the base and smaller recoil lugs on the rings...most of the time. There's nothing wrong...
