Any disadvantage to 20 MOA mounts at shorter distances?

Howdy folks,
I need to mount a scope, and the mount that the scope is basically matched to has a built-in 20 MOA slope.
I've read a little bit on this, and see the benefit of having the extra MOA's of adjustment at longer distances.
My range maxes out at 300 yards, and I'll probably zero the rifle at 100.
Will the built in slope create any problems or complications for me while zeroing or shooting the gun at these shorter distances?
I'm a bit new to this aspect of shooting, so I hope this isn't a silly question.
Thanks.

Depending on your scopes adjustment range and how everything lines up you may run close to the end of adjustment when sighting at 100 or possibly run out of range. However, unless you're using a high magnification 1" tube scope with minimal adjustment, it should work OK.

I did it on 2 rifles. The only downside was having to buy new rings.... again. I did not like the new cheek weld.

If you can zero it at 100, there can't really be an issue. You may not need the additional adjustment range, but it being available doesn't hurt.

TTundra, you say you're familiar with the P-308 scope? Any idea what sunshade fits? I'm not sure just any old Nikon 40mm will do.
Thanks.

Never put a shade on one but The P308 series is based off the Prostaff line. Nikon recently changed up the prostaff lines and with that, dimensions. Best bet would be to send them an email, or better yet, send an email to the guys at Opticsplanet or similar to check the fits.

Appreciate the info.
I wondered if the "P" indicated Prostaff (lower cost, 40 mm lens), and the "M" series were based on the Monarch (better glass, higher cost, 42 mm lens).
If the dimensions have changed, then it's absolutely worth getting confirmation.

Yep. When Nikon rolled out the P 5 scopes, etc, I do believe there may have been some dimensional changes. Not 100% sure, but it is worth the confirmation.
