1-4x scope selection for an sbr

Why not get the Leupold? It's cheaper AND lighter AND better optical quality AND faster reticle (pig plex) AND better warranty... No brainer, ain't it?

Zeiss Conquest Side Focus with no markings

Why doesn't the side focus on Zeiss Conquests have any yardage markings? There are marks in the knob but they are meaningless without numbers. This is worthless to me. Why would anyone pay that kind of money for a scope that doesn't even bother to do what much much cheaper scopes do - put...

    Guns that git-r-done.

Awesome. Love this thread. The three I took to the range today all got-r-dun..... Ar15 in 5.56x45, 1991 Win 70 FW in 6.5 x 55 (got a 3-shot group at 100 sub-1/2" with Hornady "superformance" factory 140 SSTs) and Browning A-Bolt II in .375 HH mag with 270 federal power points (dayum that...

One do it all rifle caliber? What if TWO?

Depends on much more unknown information, but without knowing more: Just one: .280 Rem Just two: .260 Rem (or 6.5x55) and 9.3x62mm (or .35 Whelen or .375 HH Mag) That's a hunting focus, but these would vary wildly depending on game sought or other uses.

    Getting rid of excess lube

Have some rounds that I put too much lube on (my mistake). Causing jamming in handguns. Can I just tumble the live rounds to get it off? Pretty sure the answer is yes, but my main concern is these are lead bullets - will the media / polishing compound remove lead and cause a problem?

Difference between Rossi 59 and Taurus 72 (both .22 mag)

Agreed, thanks. But the 23"er holds two more rounds (10 vs. 12), so I'm gonna cut, crown and sight setback at about 18 or 19" - best of all worlds. Thanks. I'm guessing the silly fragile safety is the only difference between the two models. I just bought one (a Rossi 59) off of gunbroker...

Difference between Rossi 59 and Taurus 72 (both .22 mag)

Difference between Rossi 59 and Taurus 72 (both .22 mag pumps based on Winchester 62). Greetings. Yes, that is the question. I cannot find anything on the net about this... same thing or some subtle differences? Near as I can tell, same rifle, but..... Any info would be appreciated...

    Remington recalls 7.8 million rifles

That's about exactly right.... but hey, even if it did cost them a pretty penny, it's more than offset by the money saved from lack of quality control over at the Marlin plant.

    Hitting a moving deer

Wow, so you come on here and admit that you are just as big as an unethical remedial as the first guy who shot at that deer. Interesting. That's WHY you don't shoot at running game - because YOU don't know how to make the hit. SMDH. Just un-REAL.

.223 got the job done, but...

If you have a 9 twist, try the Nosler 64 gr BSB (bonded solid base), or a monolithic bullet (Barnes TSX/TTSX, Nosler E-Tip, Hornady GMX) - then you're good to go even on a hard quartering shot in .223 rem. If you're not will to forego all hard-quartering shots, OR you're not willing to go to...

Don't lie now; you do the best napping of the year...

Ha ha, very nice. I've had deer "blowing" wake me up when they scented me.

    Caliber suggestion?

.260 rem, .243 win, 6.5x55 swede, .280 rem, .270 win, 7mm-08 rem, .257 robts, .30-'06, .25-'06, 7mm WSM, 7mm RSAUM, roughly in that order of preference. Hon mentions to 6.5 Creedmoor, .270 WSM, 6mm Rem, 6.5-.284 Norma, and yeah, .308 win. .308 isn't a *bad* choice by any means, but it wouldn't...

out in the woods, on the ground near the base of your stand around 9 to 10, don't ya? Or am I the only one? I said don't lie! :)
