I took the feed tube and reduced the chamfer on my lathe and adjusted the rear follower and the primer binding stopped. I think if you increase the chamfer at the bottom of the feed tube it will compound the problem.
Walkalone…..I first backed of the Hornady Resizing Die as you suggested about 1/8 then ¼ and still the same condition existed. I had a Lee carbide die that I use to use in the Lee 4 hole Classis and installed that Die in the resizing position on the LNL. I set the ram about 3/16 away from the...
Excellant photo's. What die are you using? I see absolutly no transition ridge at all.
Even on new starline brass the die leaves a slight visual line. Sounds like a die problem. Could I chuck the die in the lath and taper the mouth of the die a few thousands?? This will remove the coating...
The Bass I am reloading has Mixed Head Stamps...Speer...Federal..Winchester...Blazer..R P....The federal seams to be the softer. The picture view was the worst one.
Walkalong,
you are correct you can actually catch a fingernail in the crease. The case measures .430 + or - before sizing and after sizing .418. The SIG 229 does completely support the chamber however it seams to me that area could be a stress fatigue point. Federal cases seam to be a...
I just looked at one of my carbide Lee sizing die. The measurements and the internal chamfers are the same as the Hornady except for the overall length of the die….Lee being shorter. I could sand off the bottom of the die but then the chamfer would be removed and eliminate the ease of entry for...

The case you see is a once fired 40 S&W federal case. The Dies are Hornady in a LNL AP press. The case can not fully engage into the die during the resizing because the die comes in contact with the shell...
Mr. racecar,
I have heard Nu-Finished mentioned a couple times I think I might try that as well.
By the way Richlandtown was my old hunting grounds over 15 years ago. I now live in Ga. I Lived off of Axehandle road off of Richlandtown Road out side of Quakertown. Deer hunting around...
Suggestions… Brass Cleaning Techniques
I was hoping to follow some good detailed advice on Brass cleaning techniques for hand gun reloading prior to entering the press. I have a vibrator tumbler and an ultrasonic cleaner. I am using red rouge polishing tumbling media now in the vibrator my...
I just shot my fist reloaded rounds though my P229. Berrys 155gr. and 165gr. Jfp with 5.8 gr. of 231. Wow, sweet shooting for me. I was little apprehensive about purchasing a 40 cal. after all the reading I have done about how snappy and getting use to the recoil etc. I must say my 44 mag...
My first revolver was a Model 29 then I bought a model 27 and 28. Reloaded and shot thousands of rounds and they all went bang. I think what I learned was placement was more important then volume. I am now into the autos but I must say, revolvers are still my favorite when it comes to...
I recently purchased a RCBS 750 range master powder scale. The 750 will not maintain a zero reading after going through the entire calibration procedure. I have two other beam scales, as a double check when ever I reload, the digital was just one more quick check. One is a Lee and the other...
