Putting the training wheels back on - with a T/C Venture

I have that same gun/scope setup but in 270 and love it, only have ~100 rounds thru it and never felt the action to be overly tight. My wife has a 243 ruger American that has a tighter action then the t/c. Looking at getting another in 223 or maybe 204

    need general purpose 30-06

Most new guns are more accurate then the shooter, i would be more concerned with the optics

    experience with bec scope

I picked up an inexpensive bec (gold medal I think) 4-16x44 for my 17hmr and was wondering if anyone has any experience with them? So far the only downfall I have found is I have to tap the turrets after an adjustment

    THinking about updating my scope..

I have a vx2 3-9x40 on my 270 and I can still see the crosshairs on the side of a barn 200yrs out even when I couldn't see the barn with my naked eye

what to look for if scope runs out of windage?

I guess my first thought would be to check the gun over. Why would it go from moa to 5-6moa. Bedding, bore, action screw torque, crown, everything.

Good deal, keep them in check. Up here in the land of snow and ice we don't have em or I'd be makin the bacon too

    First ever coyote.

That looks bout right for a yote here in ny and as far as them stripping a carcass overnight, yes it is nothing but bone in the morning. I lost a deer to em a few years ago, bow kill just before dark and when we got to the end of the bloodtrail there was no deer but we could here the yotes all...

    Lets talk about bad shots...

I have had my share of bad shots but most being clean misses. The one that stands out to me most was the first deer I ever shot at with a bow. It was my first time hunting this property and I hadn't been in the stand long, a 6pt came in at 15yds and i didn't see him til he was right there. He...

    ever changing hunting grounds

I have been out cutting the trails open again but after 2days on 1 trail and not seeing a hole yet now the blood suckers will carry you away. The area is just a pass thru for them from the thicket just across the property line to a soy bean field on other side. It makes it easy to know when the...

    ever changing hunting grounds

Gun season on state land is like ww3 and im not interested in playing dodge ball with slugs so ill stick to the private land. I do a fair amount of scouting (not as much as I'd like) but every yr its like starting over. But on the plus side we are always getting new land to hunt, some are flops...

    ever changing hunting grounds

The areas I hunt for white tail here in New York are private property but not mine. Every year I lose a property due to it being sold or owner decided to start back up hunting or what ever. The other issue I have run into lately has been farmers fencing in orchards to keep the deer out. Now my...
