I'm looking at doing some classes in the future and I'd like to get a chest rig. I could spend a little on the Condor Ronin or about $100 more for the Haley set up. I could take that money and spend it on ammo.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with the Ronin rig? I know Condor has improved their quality as of lately.

What say you?

Condor seems OK but the PALS is a little weird. If your classes are not too high intensity (crawling around in the mud) should hold up OK.

Check out Strike Hard gear..they make some well thought out chest rigs.

Edit: nevermind apparently they no longer make AR gear or I had a stroke and they never did.

What kind of training are you doing? Not all chest rigs are created equal or are intended for the same thing. IMO there's way too many good American manufacturers of web gear to buy from a Chinese one like Condor.

If you look at a Condor rig through a NVG, you'll never look at a Condor rig again. They..... glow.

This is a place you don't want to go cheap. The inexpensive stuff tears up fast. Mags in and out all day will split seams... and you really don't want to count on that single stitched drag handle.

Here's a list of American manufacturers of web gear. Not all of them make chest rigs but a large number do. Frankly I can't imagine why anyone would buy Condor gear with so many other better options out there, many of which aren't really that much more expensive.

I've used Condor for about 6 years now in a profesional capacity. If (big if) you get the opportunity to personally dig through a pile of their gear and pull out the one that is best stitched, you will have a solid piece of kit for a dang good price. However if you can't pick out a good one, you really risk getting a crappy one.

If you are not going to be engaging in a high speed low drag lifestyle or doing these things professionally. Pretty much anybodys gear will be okay. The biggest question you need to answer in determining what to go with, is what do you need to be able to do? If all you need to do is carry 3 AR mags and dump pouch thats a lot different then something that can support plates for instance.

Thanks for the replies guys. I ended going with a SKD PIG UCR off of eBay.

In my limited - entirely unprofessional - experience, I think you made a much better choice. The clunky/junky carriers have too much crap around the shoulder making it difficult to shoulder on the fly.
