Just wondering how many folks have bought random assortments of stuff...half a box of thi, half a box of that, who knows what this is, I think this is that...

I worked out a deal for 3 partial boxes of 410 shells, appear to be paper hulls. A handful of 30-30, a handful of 30-06, half a box of 32acp, and a few unknown military brass which I will be looking for help identifying by headstamp and dimensions...oh and a couple other boxes which MIGHT indicate 30-40, and some other boxes where the headstamp is unmistakably Lapua with sealed primers...indicates factory loads. I'm on the hook for 30 bucks...indicates may be overpaying, I may be hitting the lotto. Some of you handloaders will for sure be getting packages once I get some rounds I won't use broken down.

Sounds like a cool deal to me, at the very least you have some entertaining hours ahead. For me, a few hours researching something interesting is worth $30 and if something ends up being valuable it's gravy.

Yeah, just what I could identify is worth close to the 30...assuming half boxes are half price. That puts me around 10 bucks in .410 shells, 15 on the 32 acp, and about 4 bucks on milsurp 30-06. The remaining rounds are going to be fun. I think that there are some 30-30 but they look kinda odd and there's no size reference in the picture. Oh well...even if it's a bust it's not much of a bust.

A while back a friend was helping with a "multi-family" yard sale. One lady brought in a bag of mixed ammo from her dad. my friend called to see if i wanted it...$15. Sure. It was all factory in the box. About half was good for me. I've had fun passing along the stuff I don't shoot, Only a little of it still on the shelf...waiting for a new home.

Doesn't happen for me very often.

A friend of mine gave me a bunch of very old pistol rounds that had been given to him by another friend. My friend didn't really have any guns chambered for the ammo and was going to get rid of it. I told him I would take it because I'm always fascinated by vintage stuff. The ammo was mostly .32 S&W and .32 ACP, still in the factory boxes (Remington Kleanbore), and a one box of Winchester .44 Magnums. The .32 S&W was probably the oldest as the one box was a clamshell design with very dated looking factory labels on it.

"...30-30 but they look kinda odd..." Measure the bullet diameter. Could be .33 Win, .32 Win Special or a bunch of others. No head stamp? Aside from some use by the prison system, .30-30 has never been anything but hunting ammo. Should have the cartridge name on the head stamp.
Paper .410 shells are old. Might be collector stuff.
Milsurp et al head stamps are here. http://cartridgecollectors.org/?page=headstampcodes

Here's some of the vintage ammo I previously wrote about. Mostly .32 S&W along with a box of .32 ACP, some loose rounds of .38 S&W, various rimfire rounds (.22 Shorts, Longs, Long Rifle, and .22WRF), and one .32 Colt New Police. I was sort ofsurprised at how quite a bit of the .32 caliber ammo, especially the .32 ACP, was still in fairly decent shape.

Here it is. Cost me a box of Winchester White Box 9mm.

No real excitement in chasing headstamps.
Cartridges included...
.303 brit
30-06
32 acp
7.62x39
22 savage
30-40 krag
.410
And those odd looking 30-30s turned out to be 35 rem.

All appears to be factory loaded ammo in good enough shape to shoot.

Not a bad assortment for some WWB 9mm. And if you don't have some of the guns that ammo could be used in, here's the perfect reason to go out and get them.

Yep. Looking for a milsurp '06 anyway. 35 rem will go to a coworker. The brit and krag are going to get torn down and find new homes with reloaders. It was a pretty fair trade for just the .410, all the other is just extra. I guess I have my squirrel ammo for the year. Got plans for the 32 already too. I'll keep the 22 savage, and put that 7.62x39 in the range box to give away some day
