My nephew bought over his AR15 bolt in a baggie disassembled. It's been 30 years since I assembled one. I got all of it together, and I can't remember for the life of me if a milspec AR uses a firing pin spring. I'm thinking that it don't and the pin is held with the cotter key pin.... am I remembering right?
Thanks!

Thanks guys... he had me looking all over for it, and the best I could remember, it didnt have one.

Thanks a million

Don't know if it counts but Colt-style 9mm ARs also have a firing pin spring. I was reminded of this yesterday when I cleaned it for the first time in ages and was surprised when it tried to shoot out. It also left me second-guessing/wondering to myself if my 5.56 ARs had springs as I hadn't cleaned them in a while either.

That used to be an NFG Armorer hazing; "Go to the Maintenance Facility and get a dozen firing pin springs for the M16's"......my back-up Armorer fell for it!
